Terminator

News broke on Wednesday that Nick Stahl, the actor who played John Connor in “Terminator 3,” has gone missing.

Unfortunately, Stahl isn’t the first "Terminator" star to find himself in a compromising situation. From Arnold Schwarzenegger’s baby mama drama to Eddie Furlong’s legal woes, it seems like James Cameron may be the only person who came out of the Terminator franchise un-scathed. Or did he?

Is there a curse for all the men who have played John Connor? Or is the whole “Terminator” franchise just bad news?

The summer movie season has officially begun and while Star Trek has dominated the box office since it's opening, Christian Bale's new movie Terminator Salvation is expected to bring in record numbers. But Bale still needed some convincing when it came to staring in the movie.

Bale, while promoting his new film Terminator Salvation, spoke to Hollyscoop about the Terminator franchise and what it means to him personally.

Bale told Hollyscoop, "Initially when I heard of this I thought it's done, there's no new story there to be told and then realization that there really could be something very good here. And yeah some people told me 'yeah you don't want to touch that', and so I thought 'ok I do want to touch that' because why are they saying that?"

Last summer Bale stared as Batman in The Dark Knight, which grossed over $533 million domestically alone. While The Dark Knight had massive success at the box office, Bale said he had to really consider whether he wanted to be apart of another franchise, like the Terminator.

"Any planning that I have done in my career has been accidental," Bale told Hollyscoop. "It just became something that over time you know grew to interest me, because I certainly wasn't [interested in the movie] to begin with.

"In some ways that was another thing that some people were saying, 'why you wanna do that', which made me go well I'm gonna go do it then, haha."

Whatever the case is, we're glad he agreed to do the movie. We can't imagine anyone, other than the Governator, saying "I'll Be Back" the way Christian Bale can. Are you planning on watching the movie? What do you expect to take away from the movie?

Linda Hamilton, who played the original Sarah Connor in Terminator, may be returning to the franchise for the latest installment. Terminator Salvation is almost done shooting, but may be adding Hamilton’s voice in post production.

She tells MTV News, “My contribution would be voice-over. “I would probably be very happy to loan my voice depending on what the material is. Wait and see. They’re already writing it. We’ve been negotiating it.”

But what the actual part is for Linda is unclear. She says, “I haven’t read it yet. I don’t know what direction they will go in.”

This is really interesting because Linda actually declined a role in the third Terminator movie, Rise of the Machines, because she didn’t feel it was right. She says, “They offered me a part. I read it and I knew my character arc was so complete in the first two, and in the third one it was a negligible character. She died halfway through and there was no time to mourn her. It was kind of disposable, so I said no thank you.”

It’s not too often an actor would turn down such a huge role like that. So this is big news for the franchise that she’ll be doing voice-over! It all adds to the big mystery surrounding what will happen in this fourth movie.

Only a few months more of waiting! The film is scheduled to come out in theaters on May 21st.
Shooting has already begun on the first of three new Terminator movies called Terminator Salvation:The Future Begins, which is being directed by McG. Christian Bale has signed on to play lead character John Conner for the three installments, the first of which will be out in May 2009.  Apparently Christian read the script and loved it, so signed on for all three.

Rap star Common also has a lead role, as well as Sam Worthington, and John Brolin, which is still a rumor.  Much like the new Batman movie, the project is being kept under wraps and no one is to talk about the story points.  The actors are only being permitted to read their parts of the film, as opposed to reading the entire thing.

The producers are trying to make the movie as viewer-friendly as possible.  They say, "We're both huge Terminator fans and we're just approaching it from the point of view of what we'd like to see.  Any time we're feeling pressure we just take a step back and say, as fans, 'what would we like to see?'"
