With four Grammy wins including album of the year, a hot new album, a massive U.S. tour, and a budding movie career, I can see why she was the top choice.
Swift talks about her songwriting choices, which usually revolve around one of the guys she’s dated in the past.
“Sometimes I would laugh because I would see it in print and it would say, ‘This song, which is written about her ex, so-and-so…’ And they would write about it as if it was fact.
The fact is, I haven’t ever confirmed that any song is about any particular person. There’s something kind of freeing about that. As far as I’m concerned, it’s all still up in the air.”
Sure, Taylor’s killed it this year, but I still think this was the ultimate year of the Gaga. She was huge last year and the year before that, but 2010 was the year she really stepped up her game.
Her Fame Monster Ball is so popular that she continues to have dates sold out through 2011. I think she really came into her own this year, and proved she was here to stay in the music industry.
Not to take anything away from Swift—she’s proven to be an amazing talent. But somewhere Kanye is still thinking Beyonce should have been crowned with the title—despite not having released a record in two years.
Do you agree with EW that Taylor is the entertainer of the year?
