Over a month after Sage Stallone, Sylvester Stallone’s son, was tragically found dead in his Los Angeles home, a cause of death has been determined.
Despite initial speculation that drugs might have been involved, reports say that Sage, the 36-year-old of action hero, died of natural causes… Specifically, he died of a heart attack.
According to TMZ the cause of death was likely due to heart disease. During the autopsy, the L.A. County Coroner reportedly found evidence of long-term coronary problems.
A source told TMZ that it is unusual for a man of Sage’s age to suffer from such serious heart problems, but, nonetheless, that is what caused his death.
The autopsy was completed in mid July, but up until now, the cause of death was not readily known.
Sage’s body was discovered on July 13, reportedly days after he died. Initially it was assumed that Sage suffered apparent overdose.
As Hollyscoop previously reported, a bottle of prescription pills were found on the scene, causing people to jump to conclusions.
Drug use could not officially be ruled out as the cause of death until a toxicology report was completed, which – at most – can take up to two months to complete.
Sage’s father spoke out about his grief, issuing a public statement to TMZ in July…
“When a parent loses a child there is no greater pain,” he said. “Therefore I am imploring people to respect my talented son’s memory and feel compassion for his loving mother Sasha.”
Sage made his acting debut in Rocky V, staring alongside his father as Rocky Balboa Jr. At the time of his death, he was reportedly engaged and working on several future productions.
