While most of us celebrated our fifth birthdays in a urine-drenched ball pit at the local Chuck E. Cheese, Suri Cruise had a lavish tea party in a Beverly Hills mansion.
Based on the photos, the only thing it seemed to be missing was children. But then again, her favorite purses are Ferragamos and she’s already in heels. I wouldn’t be surprised if she got a bottle of Chanel No.5 and a mink shoulder wrap for her birthday.
Suri wore a pink dress and blue sunglasses while mom Katie Holmes sat nearby with siblings Conner, 18 and Isabella, 16.
All in all, it appeared to be a low-key affair, which is unusual for any celebrity kid, but especially Suri, who has had a $100,000 party in the past. We’ve put together our list of the most lavish star kid's birthday parties:
Suri Cruise’s 2nd birthday: The infamous $100,000 event had a butterfly theme, and those butterflies better have pooped gold, because I don’t see how else it should cost that much. The cake alone was $5,000, and Katie and Tom spent another $45,000 on catering. And considering most of Suri’s friends are middle-aged, I doubt pizza and chicken nuggets were on the menu.
Kingston Rossdale’s 4th birthday: The son of Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale partied like the rock star offspring he was when he turned four. A bouncy caste, birds, super heroes, and a face painter…I wouldn’t mind ringing in my thirtieth with all that! Gwen and Gavin reportedly spent a whopping $15,000 on the event, but lunch was laid back: Burgers, chicken fingers, and lemonade.
Sean Preston and Jayden James Federline’s double bash: When they turned 3 and 2 years-old, Britney Spears celebrated both babies’ birthdays in the tackiest theme possible: Ed Hardy. The pop star bought mini motorized cars, customized for Ed Hardy, along with Ed Hardy air fresheners and personalized license plates. What was on the menu, Devotion Vodka and Protein Shakes? Let the fist pumping begin!
Pax Jolie Pitt’s 7th birthday: Ever wanted to go on a French cruise down the Seine River? Just get Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt to adopt you. They spent Pax’s seventh birthday cruising down the river. Totally worth being forced into donning a faux-hawk for the two years of your life.
Max Sutter’s 1st birthday: Former The Bachelorette stars Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter celebrated their son’s birthday with a candy buffet that included 200 pounds of candy. That many kids around that many sweets? These two are either really, really brave, or really, really dumb. Either way, you could probably power the entire city of Los Angeles with the collective sugar-high that generated at that birthday party.
Christian Combs’ 12th birthday—in Vegas: That’s what happens when you roll with Diddy. P. Diddy celebrated his son Christian’s 12th birthday by taking him on a three-day trip to Vegas in a black tour bus. The kids dined on pizza and shrimp scampi and a custom cake that was almost as tall as Christian himself.
