Victoria Beckham
is focusing solely on her fashion career right now. And between that and raising her three boys at home, she has her hands full!
Victoria sat down with
Harper’s Bazaar to talk about her love of fashion, and that being in the industry has been a long time in the making. "I really had to prove myself, though," admits Victoria. "But now I feel like I am competing in an arena where I belong. I was so nervous because this has been a lifetime in the making."
Victoria also says she transforms herself into a different version of herself when she leaves the house. "I go into hair and makeup, and I turn into 'Victoria Beckham.' I'll try on all my dresses, and I'll pick out a handbag, and I'll put on the shades. I instantly turn into this person, and it sort of feels like a character. And there are so many pictures of it. But it's a true character because it's still me."
And part of that new character, apparently, is learning how to smile, which is something we rarely see from her. "I have started smiling," she says. "I've mastered this smirk; it's a smile that isn't a smile. I used to get so nervous, and when I got on the red carpet, I'd freeze up. I've had so many things said about me over the years, like a public bullying."
As for who Victoria would like to style, she picks fellow Brit Emma Watson. She calls her “so sweet, so true to herself,” adding, “There are so many young girls wearing too much make-up, too much hairspray — I find that very dated.”
She also finds Angelina Jolie very intriguing. “I think Angelina’s beautiful,” she said. A woman after our own hearts! See? Victoria isn’t as tough as the image she sometimes portrays!
