Emma Watson is all grown up! She’s not only currently enrolled as a student at Ivy League school Brown University, now she has a brand new clothing line. The Harry Potter star announced her new collection with ethical fashion label People Tree.
Emma started making her presence known in the fashion world this year, sitting front row at numerous fashion shows. She also became one the faces of Burberry this year.
Her new collaboration with People Tree is geared towards bringing fair trade and organic fashion to ages 16-24. Emma will be the creative advisor for the line. She says, "I was excited by the idea of using fashion as a tool to alleviate poverty and knew it was something I could help make a difference with. “
"I think young people like me are becoming increasingly aware of the humanitarian and environmental issues surrounding fast fashion and want to make good choices but there aren't many options out there."
The collection will includes knitwear, cotton T-shirts, jersey dresses, poplin skirts and shorts, described by People Tree as "clean, sexy and easy to wear,” and will be available in stores in February 2010.
Most of the collection uses organic and fairly traded cotton. The clothes are made entirely by hand by fair trade groups using weaving, knitting and embroidery, helping to create livelihoods for disadvantaged groups in Bangladesh, India and Nepal.
