Steven Tyler Quits Aerosmith

Steven Tyler
After 40 years, Steven Tyler has decided to part ways from the band that made him a household name.

According to Aerosmith's guitarist Joe Perry, Tyler has quit the band and isn't on speaking terms with anybody.

He tells the Las Vegas Sun, "Steven quit as far as I can tell. I don't know any more than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don't know for how long, indefinitely or whatever. Other than that, I don't know."

Perry blames Tyler's lack of communication for the split saying, "He's notorious for that. That's one thing I've learned to live with. I try to overlook it. I like to pick my battles.

"Frankly, the last few months I've been wanting not to rock the boat. I don't want him canceling any more gigs. We really wanted to do these last four. We just kind of didn't want to call him out or anything and get him anymore p**sed off, for whatever reason. So we just let things lie.

"So we did the gigs and, like I said, I got off the plane and saw this online. That's how I know about it... He has had no contact with me or the other band members."

Perry added that the group will go on with or without Tyler. He adds, "Right now I'm adjusting to how we're going to go on. Aerosmith is such a powerful band, I mean it's like a steam locomotive. You just can't disregard 40 years of four guys who play together as well as they do. We're just trying to - at least I am - trying to figure out what direction the band should take.

"As far as replacing Steve, it's not just about that, it's also four guys that play extremely well together, and I'm not going to see that go to waste. I really don't know what path it's going to take at this point, but we'll probably find somebody else that will sing in those spots where we need a singer and then we'll be able to move the Aerosmith up a notch, move the vibe up a notch."

The group has been fighting rumors of a split for almost a year now after cancelled tour dates, injuries and accidents. Are you shocked by the news, or did you see it coming? Will Aerosmith be the same without Steven Tyler? Tell us your thoughts!

All lead singer's have LSD . (Lead Singer Disease ) Steve has that, plus a new monkey on his back . I'd ask Mick Jagger to join the band . Lets face it, Mick's the original ! Tylerico is the copy. Steve Perry, Journey's old singer would do well too. I'd love to hear that combination . Take that Tylerico ! You are replaceable .

It's not Aerosmith without Steven Tyler. Call the band something else. It may go the same way Mick Jagger did when he left the Stones. Down the tubes. Mick was no success without the Stones, however Keith WAS successful with the Expensive Winos. Mick came crawling back. Or, why not do individual projects as well as the band, like Fleetwood Mac?

I like Steven Tyler but...he has really insisted on going away from the kind of rock they used to play- the stuff the real fans want and gone into the "Phil Collins'" type of baby crap. Come on he really thinks "I don't want to miss a thing " is a great song..Such schmaltz!!! Let him be a diva - they should find someone who wants to rock on stage and not in his rocking chair

Drama queens like Steven Tyler should just retire.

Maybe he's PMS-ing again. It's not Aerosmith w/o Tyler, but every song sounds about the same anyway, so it's not a huge loss. Maybe do like Journey did - find someone who's nearly identical in look & sound.

Probably just burned out right now. Hopefully he'll change his mind and get back with the band. They won't be the same without him!

Call it something else. That band isn't Aerosmith without Steven Tyler.

It seems as though Steven Tyler needs a stint on VH1 Celebrity Rehab! I can't imagine Aerosmith being fronted by anyone other than Steven Tyler. I hope this works out for Steven the band and their families.

All their songs sound the same anyway. If you've heard one, you've heard them all.

He's "quit" so many times, who knows that this is it? But he probably should be performing anymore.
