Maria Sharapova so we figured we'd brighten up his day and post this story just for him. The U.S. Open wrapped up Sunday evening when
Roger Federer winning the tennis tournament for the third straight year--this time beating
Andy Roddick.
On Saturday,
Maria Sharapova won her first U.S. Open, beating out Justine Henin-Hardenne. Sharapova, 19, who is known as much for her striking good looks, fashion sense and endorsement deals, wore a slinky black tennis dress ringed with sparkles, and a black bow in her hair for the final.
During her comments to the crowd after winning, Sharapova thanked tennis legend Billie Jean King for her work for women in tennis, including pushing for equal prize money. Sharapova earned $1.7 million for her victory Saturday.
Meanwhile, there were familiar celebrity faces in the crowds there to cheer on their favorites.
Gwen Stefani was spotted watching the game with her husband Gavin Rossdale with their son Kingston.
