The movie made an estimated $121.4 million from Wednesday to Friday, reports distributor Summit Entertainment.
The six-day total brought in a whopping $198.9 million.

The first installment of Twilight brought in $88 million and New Moon raked in $179 million in its first six days.
Judging by initial estimates, Eclipse would take the number 3 spot of highest six-day openers. The Dark Knight had brought in $222 million and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen made $215 million.

Columbia Pictures confirms that Andrew has nabbed the highly sought-after role of Peter Parker after Tobey Maguire decided he was over the role.
The British cutie is the U.K.’s most highly regarded up-and-comers, reports EW, so it should come as no surprise that he beat out hundreds of other actors for the role.
According to EW, he appeared in Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus as well as John Crowley’s Boy A, for which he received a best actor BAFTA in 2008.
He's cute enough to be the new Spider-Man, but will fans accept him as the new Tobey? Tell us your thoughts!

You’re probably asking the same question we did when we heard about this rumor. Jamie and Andrew who?
Jamie is a British actor who has actually won a Best Actor award at the 2001 British Academy Awards beating Russell Crowe, Tom Hanks, Michael Douglas and Geoffrey Rush. He’s best known for his role in Billy Elliott. He also dated Evan Rachel Wood who is currently engaged to Marilyn Manson.
Andrew Garfield, who starred in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is also in talks to be Spider-Man.
The fourth Spider-Man film will be shot in 3D and is scheduled to be released on July 3, 2012 it will reportedly focus on a younger version of the superhero.

It also beat out the previously held $1.84 billion worldwide sales, making $2 billion at the box office. I think our response was, 'It's about time those guys got knocked off their perch.’”
"Lightning is not supposed to strike twice. And it has. And it's a pinch-me moment when you sit there and you hear that we're going to break another record. It's beyond anything that we could have imagined," he said.

Everyone’s favorite vampire is in the running to be the successor of Peter Parker after Maguire announced he was leaving the franchise. He said in a statement, "Beyond the films themselves, I have formed some deep and lasting friendships. I am excited to see the next chapter unfold in this incredible story."
The Daily Record reports that Rob is at the forefront for possible actors to take over, as well as Chace Crawford and Michael Cera.
Rob is busy shooting the film Bel Ami with Uma Thurman until February, and will likely begin on Breaking Dawn shortly thereafter, making Spidey a very difficult project to sign onto.
The next movie will supposedly focus more on Peter Parker’s character in high school. We’re not sure Rob, Chace or Michael look young enough to pull that off!
Who do you think should take over for Tobey?

Before the holidays, director Sam Raimi halted pre-production because he was having issues with the script. It turns out he was clashing with the producers which is why he will not work on the movie anymore.
Sam said: "While Tobey and I were looking forward to doing a fourth one together, the studio and Marvel have a unique opportunity to take the franchise in a new direction, and I know they will do a terrific job."
The movie was pushed back and now it will be released in 2012, instead of next year as previously planned.
So what will the new Spiderman entail? Rumor has it that they are going to actually make a prequal about Peter Parker as a teenager which means that Kirsten Dunst (who played love interest Mary Jane Watson) will also not return as well.

According to Variety, Sony has delayed the start of production, which was originally scheduled for February. Before the holidays, director Sam Raimi halted pre-production because he was having issues with the script.
The movie’s release date is May 6th 2011, which may seem like a lot of time—but not for a big blockbuster like this! Raimi reportedly hated the script for Spidey 4, and are now awaiting a re-write from another screenwriter.
"It is unlikely that May 11, 2011, date will be made," a Sony insider tells DeadlineHollywood.com. "It depends on how quickly the script can get in."
We’ll be anxiously awaiting the results!

Insiders says Rachel is a top contender for the role of Felicia Hardy, also known as the black cat. In the story, Spider-Man first encounters the Black Cat when she’s looking to free her sick father from prison. She becomes smitten with Spidey, to the point of a stalker-level obsession. Later stories had Peter reciprocating her affection and her becoming a lover, a friend and ally.
Sources also say they are casting for a male villain, but had few details. Website heyuguys.co.uk reports today that Rachel isn’t the only actress who has been seen for the part. No word on who is in talks for the role. Details to come!
