The 2012 London Olympics have come to a close and while we weep for the lack of Ryan Lochte in our lives, let’s recap the Closing Ceremony where Spice Girls reunited for what might be the last time, Jessie J performed a Queen song and killed it, and One Direction proved they are the best new import from the UK!
The Spice Girls were transported to the stage on the roofs of each of their own Spice car – hackney carriages, to be exact.
They performed “Spice Up Your Life” and “Wannabe” just like we predicted and each of the ladies looked like they hadn’t aged since the ‘90s.
The girls breezed through the performance, except for a couple accidental slip-ups on top of the moving cars, and each woman was dressed in grown-up versions of their iconic ‘90s garb.
Victoria “Posh” Beckham rocked a black strapless dress. Emma “Baby” Bunton wore a hot pink dress, Mel “Scary” Brown rocked a very J.Lo inspired sparkly body suit, Geri “Ginger” Halliwell wore an updated version of her famous Union Jack dress, while Mel “Sporty” Chisholm donned a lady-like version of her famous track suit.
Other performances included George Michael, Jessie J performing with a larger-than-life "Freddie Mercury," Annie Lennox, Russell Brand singing “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, a scene from Monty Python, and a runway performance from Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Georgia Jagger, Karen Elson and Lily Donaldson.
Also in attendance, Prince Harry and the Duchess of Cambridge praised their hometown athletes.
