We have good news and bad news. Good news is that Spencer Pratt is leaving The Hills. The bad is that he’s not leaving the country. The reality star has announced his departure from the MTV show in exchange for a whole new career!
According to Pratt, he’s decided to work for American Defense Enterprises in their cyber security division.
He tells People, "In the last few months I have discovered a new passion and new purpose to my life. With this in mind, I have decided to take a break from my obligations to MTV's The Hills and discontinue filming any more episodes for this current season."
"With that being said, I am saddened to take this break from filming MTV's The Hills. At this time, however I feel I would not be honoring my country or myself if I were to continue this endeavor when I have the opportunity and the ability to assist our nation against these prevalent threats."
But was Spencer’s departure really voluntary? According to inside sources, the answer is no. An insider tells Us Weekly there’s more to the story. "All of that stuff about him leaving The Hills to fight cyber crime is not true. He is leaving The Hills for 6 weeks because he was asked to,” says the source. According to the insider, Spencer flipped out at a producer after she asked him to do something.
"He got so crazy that he screamed at [her], 'I should kill you for even asking me to do that!'" the source said. The producer filed a complaint with the show's producers, who threatened to kick Pratt off the show.
Pratt’s people then had to make a compromise with the production staff. The insider sais "the show agreed that Spencer would leave The Hills for six weeks to do anger management training once a week at home. If he completes it, he can return to the show."
Any reason for Spencer to be off television for awhile is good enough for us! Hopefully this means he won’t be staging paparazzi pics for the tabloids anymore too!
