Southland

Southland got canceled last month, after just eight episodes on NBC. Show creators didn’t get their hopes down after getting cut from the lineup, and immediately started in on finding the show a new home.

And it looks like their determination paid off, since TNT has officially picked it up! The new network has acquired the rights to air all six episodes that have been shot for the second season, as well as the seven episodes from the first season.

Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks said, “This is a great win for fans of Southland and a perfect opportunity to introduce the series to new viewers. It’s also another outstanding example of how TNT has established itself as the go-to place for the best dramas on television.”

Peter Roth, president of Warner Bros. Television continued, “We are extremely pleased that TNT has acquired all 13 episodes of Southland, giving devoted fans the opportunity to watch a show that they passionately support.”

Southland will air on TNT Tuesdays at 10PM, beginning with the first episode of the series on January 12th.
The O.C. alums are not having much luck in television this season. First, Mischa Barton’s The Beautiful Life gets canceled after a two-week run, and now Southland, which stars Benjamin McKenzie, has gotten canned.

The NBC drama was canceled last night because of poor ratings, but producer John Wells doesn’t seem to think this is the end quite yet. He says he’s going to start shopping the show around to other networks.

Wells said in a statement, He says, "I'm disappointed that NBC no longer has the time periods available to support the kind of critically-acclaimed series that was for so many years, a hallmark of their success. We remain extremely proud of Southland and are actively looking for another home for the series."

It has happened before, so it’s not totally out of the question. But this was a long time ago. The last time a show got canceled and hoped to find a new home was earlier this year with My Name Is Earl. Unfortunately, it looks like Southland may be done for good.
