So You Think You Can Dance

“The problem is the 'Idol' winner will be a star by then.”
Nigel opened up a bit more about the idea at the ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Season 9 Los Angeles auditions. Lythgoe told Hollyscoop:

And he was right. 11.5 million Americans voted for Moore, and she became the champion of season 8. Sasha was the close runner up. Lythgoe knows his stuff.
Host Cat Deely, who was just nominated for an Emmy, told the girls: "You two are both exquisite dancers, you have both been amazing."
But in the end, it was Moore who became a quarter millionaire. She also got a sponsorship deal.
Moore is a 19 year old from Marietta

Tom Cruise is being recruited to be a guest judge on the hit competition show. New judge Adam Shankman tells E!, “Tom loves the show, so I hope so. I happen to love Tom, and Tom loves dancing, so it would be great.”
The outspoken Mary Murphy agreed with Shankman, saying, “That hot tamale can come by anytime.”
Host Cat Deely says they all got to meet Tom when Katie came in to make her appearance. “I’d never met him before so I had no idea what to expect,” says Cat. “He was an absolute sweetheart. He was taking videos of his little girl and wife. Just like any guy, he was incredibly proud of his spouse.”
Cat says she’d be surprised if Tom were to do any dancing and singing of his own, and she’d expect him to stick to the judge’s table. “It’s quite terrifying to go on and do something like that when that’s not what you’re known for,” she said. “I can only respect people who put themselves out there and go for it and try new things and that’s exactly what she did.”
We could actually see Tom being a good judge on this show! He’s got just the right amount of charisma, and the contestants would be lucky to get notes from one of the top actors of our time!

According to the Daily Mail, Victoria is in talks with the BBC to be a judge on the new U.K. version of So You Think You Can Dance! She’d appear alongside Nigel Lythgoe and Arlene Philips for the show that’s scheduled to begin next year.
A source close to negotiations says, “The plan is for her to judge in one or two shows. Victoria has only made a handful of appearances on British television so it would be a real coup.”
Sources close to Victoria say her full-time gig will remain in the fashion world. “There is no suggestion that she would be a judge full time on any of these shows - she is focused on the clothing line.”
We like these little cameos she’s been doing. It lets us get to know her better, and see her personality shine, rather than just seeing her get photographed walking through an airport!

According to reports, Simon Cowell is in talks to develop his very own dance competition show. A source tells Us Weekly Simon "is secretly in talks to start his own dance show with Ian Burton, a UK friend who used to run a record label with him and has managed dancers.”
The insider claims Simon wants to go head-to-head with SYTYCD producer Nigel Lythgoe, who also happens to produce American Idol.
The source continues, "It's his own SYTYCD show. He is always trying to do his own thing to compete with the Idol team. Now he is trying to steal the SYTYCD thunder.”
In addition to Idol, Simon already produces America's Got Talent, and judges on The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent. Soon he’s going to be on every single reality show out there!

According to TMZ, Da Silva was charged with eight felony counts of assault, including four counts of forcible rape, two counts of assault with intent to commit rape and two counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object.
Deputy District Attorney Rosa Alarcon claims the alleged assaults occurred between August 2002 and March of this year. The four alleged victims were between the ages of 20 and 26 and were all dancers who met Da Silva at his dance classes.
Not too long ago in April, Da Silva was arrested and cleared of multiple rape-related charges because LA prosecutors claimed there was not enough evidence to pursue any charges.
He is currently being held on $6.2 million bail.
Scary! Obviously something is off with this guy for four separate women to step forward and report the same thing!

As the winner, she received $250,000, but according to Us Weekly, plans on donating all of it to the charity Making Memories, which helps people suffering with Alzheimer's.
Jeanine said after the win, "I feel so humbled and so excited to be here," she told Us. "It's the best feeling ever just to know that people love what you're doing."
As for what’s up next for her? Jeanine will soon hit the road on a national tour with the top 12 performers. But for now, she says, "I was contemplating chugging Tylenol PM and sleeping for a full week. I think I'm going to go with natural sleep, and I'll be icing myself to take care of my bruises."
Congrats to Jeanine for winning!

But in the event Paula doesn’t come back for season 9 of Idol, Nigel Lythgoe has invited her to another very popular show: So You Think You Can Dance.
Nigel told the New York Daily News, "We would certainly consider her as a guest judge. Without question."
As much as we love Paula on Idol, it seems SYTYCD is more up her alley. She is after all, a choreographer before she is a singer. And her dance moves are still pretty much in tact from her “Opposites Attract” days.
And speaking of Nigel, he was once the executive producer of Idol. From his inside perspective, he told TV Guide, "Having spoken with [Fox reality boss] Mike Darnell, I know Fox wants to keep Paula.”
Nigel also said that Paula has a right to be angry after seeing the new contracts Ryan and Simon just scored for $45 million and $144 million, respectively.
Nigel said, "I don't know if they're true, but Paula seeing those figures would make her pretty upset.”
We don’t want to see Paula leave Idol, but So You Think You Can Dance would be a great consolation for her!

A witness at the rehearsal yesterday at Fox Studios tells Us Weekly Katie rehearsed yesterday in an all-black ensemble similar to Garland’s: black velvet fedora, patent leather heels, nylon stockings, body-hugging skirt and micro-mini skirt.
The source says, "She looks incredible. She is just doing an amazing job. Everyone is absolutely floored by how talented she is."
The set creates the illusion that she's dancing on a rooftop with a sky backdrop. She shares the stage with eight male dancers, who wear matching suits and ties. The source tells Us that Katie practiced by lip-syncing to a backing track, and twirls her hair and "seductively shakes her hips.”
Katie reportedly rehearsed the number with her dancers for hours yesterday, finally wrapping at 6PM. The source also says her performance "might broadcast this week as news has started to leak out -- but they're trying to save it for July 8th, as that is the 100th episode.
We all know about it by now, since nothing can be kept a secret in Hollywood for too long! So we hope they air Katie’s episode soon! That’s definitely a reason to tune in!

But the lessons may be for a greater cause, we hear. According to Life & Style magazine, Katie has been preparing for an upcoming stint on a major network dance show. No, not Dancing With the Stars. Katie’s still a little too A-List for that.
According to the mag, Katie has been in talks with the producers from Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance to make an appearance. She’s met with Nigel Lythgoe to go over the deal.
She sure has been getting a lot of rehearsal time in! She’s been photographed a lot lately leaving various dance studios in Los Angeles. Hopefully all of her practice time will pay off!
