Simon Cowell's Engagement Takes Back Seat to X-Factor
Simon Cowell has been engaged to his make-up artist girlfriend Mezhgan Hussainy for 19 months now, so why the long-ass engagement? “I’m not going to lie, everything this year has been about working on ‘The X Factor.’” Simon revealed to Star magazine.

X-Factor has already proven to be the most over-the-top singing competition yet, with 2-hour episodes and talents that is discovered in arena style audition rounds. So with X-Factor being Simon’s life right now, everything else, including romance and a trip down the wedding aisle have taken the back seat.

“It has probably been the busiest year I’ve ever had. Making the choice to get married is something you just have to decide when the time is right,” Simon confesses.

And the right time would be when X-Factor becomes the ONLY show on television and American Idol producers are standing outside it’s offices clinking together pennies in a can and beginning to be let in. Muah-ha-ha-ha.

He met Mezhgan on American Idol where she was their long-time chief makeup artist. Though her website lists 2009 as the last year she did make-up for AI, because now her only job is too look good next to Simon on the red carpet.

Simon’s publicist says that the reason they haven’t gotten married was not because they’ve split, or anything like that, his publicist Max Clifford jokes that Simon Cowell will walk down an aisle, we’ll just have to wait forever for it to happen.

“You might have to wait 20 years for Simon to plan a wedding – but they are as close as they have ever been.”

Rumors that the two have split have been circulating all month, first Simon joked to Howard Stern that he wasn’t sure if he was still engaged. When the shock-jock asked if he was engaged, Simon said he was “not sure.”

Well, that’s one way to start a marriage.

But then Simon, who is usually mum about her personally life, told Stern, “If we were having this conversation off the radio I could have a normal conversation.”

So then there were rumors they had split. Those brilliant British tabloids pointed out that when they stepped out to the X-Factor premiere party she wasn’t wearing her ring. But who really believes British tabs? They also reported that she was sent to live at Simon’s “Girlfriend Graveyard” which apparently is some house that he sends his ex-girlfriends to live at when the relationship “dies.”

Oh British tabloids, how’s Bat Boy doing these days? Eh?
