Simon Cowell, meet Simon Cowell. Because obviously you’re not familiar with him.
‘X-Factor honcho, Simon Cowell, is taking a long, hard look at himself and his career, and he’s discovered that he’s “a bit too cocky.”
“I think I probably came here a little too cocky, but I am cocky by nature.”
The quote was in response to the fact that the ‘X-Factor’ ratings are less than half of ‘American Idol’.
Cowell’s overseas talent show, ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ has also seen a slump in ratings. He criticized the judging panel, which included David Hasselhoff.
I know what you’re thinking, ‘David Hasselhoff?!’ But overseas, Hasselhoff actually has a well-respected career. Over here, he’s that dude that ate a cheeseburger half naked drunk on the floor.
But ultimately, Simon is willing to take the blame:
“I had come off the back of a massive hit in the U.K., had the adrenaline (and) couldn’t wait to put the show on here, and it is going to take a little longer than I thought,' Cowell said. He continued:
“We went into 2011 thinking, ‘It's all going to be easy’ and of course it wasn't. It was the year my ego was put in check. We all got a bit smug last year, I certainly got a bit too cocky. I ended 2010 on a real high, it was the Matt Cardle year - my favorite year - and the figures for X Factor were huge.”
Meanwhile, Britain is planning to launch their own version of The Voice.
“I knew the BBC was putting on The Voice,” Cowell said. “They've done this to have a pop at The X Factor and to have a go at the BGT ratings.”
