When you think of superheroes, you think Iron Man, Batman, Superman…the list goes on and on. But would you ever guess that a woman would win the title of the ultimate action hero? We sure didn’t see it coming!

British cable channel Sky Movies conducted a poll to name the #1 action hero of all time, and Sigourney Weaver beat out everyone for her role in Alien. This comes just days after Sigourney was included on Entertainment Weekly’s top hero poll.

Fans voted her role as Ellen Ripley higher than huge Hollywood men like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. But the Arnold was right behind her in second place, while Sly Stallone and Chuck Norris are tied for third.

Mark Dolan, Sky Movies 35mm presenter, said: "I've always been terrified of women - now I know I was right to be! Sigourney is a great actor and an unrivalled action hero - a worthy winner".

Each star was judged on five categories: weapons, one-liners, kill count, creative ass kicking and sex appeal. Matt Damon, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis and Steven Seagal also feature in the top 10.
