Shaun White Charged With Vandalism and Public Intoxication

Shaun White released this apology on his Facebook page, "I want to apologize for the unwise choices I made over the weekend and for any inconvenience it caused my family, friends, business partners, the hotel and their guests. I was celebrating a happy occasion with a ton of family and friends and got carried away. I'm truly sorry for my poor behavior."

The Olympic gold medalist is waking up on the wrong side of the bed this morning… Or jail cell, that is.

After being taken away from a Nashville hotel in cuffs, Shaun White has been charged with vandalism and public intoxication. This incident went down in the wee hours of Sunday morning at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel on West End Avenue.

A press release from the Metro Nashville Police Department confirms the news…

Along with the release, a mug shot was included, showing a tired looking White with a black eye and his fiery locks pulled back in a ponytail.

“Officers responded to the hotel at 2 a.m. Sunday regarding an intoxicated man, reportedly White, who allegedly pulled a fire alarm at the hotel which caused the evacuation of all guests,” the report reads.

In addition to waking everyone up in the middle of the night, Shawn reportedly trashed his room and destroyed a hotel phone.

And, from there, the shenanigans just got worse…

According to the release, White tried to flee the scene in a cab, but a citizen turned superhero stopped the cab from leaving. The citizen told the cab driver that the police had been called.

Upon hearing this, White reportedly kicked the citizen, and fled on foot.

The citizen told police that he chased after White, eventually catching and running into him. The snowboarder fell back and hit his head a on a fence.

As Hollyscoop previously reported, White split his head open. He was rushed to the hospital to receive treatment.

“He was released from the hospital late this afternoon [Monday] and is free on his own recognizance,” the release read.

After Shawn refused to sign misdemeanor charges, arrest warrants were issued on Sunday morning. At this time, the citizen that was kicked by White has declined to press charges.
