Last month, the 42 year-old actor was seriously injured in a surfing accident while filming the movie Mavericks.
Gerard said the accident “was maybe one of the few times that reports were not exaggerated. It was a pretty close call."
He added that a series of giant waves "just took me in, and I couldn't get up. It was pretty hairy."

At first glance, some thought it was proof that Kate Middleton had started wearing hair extensions. However, that scar was not a track in her weave but rather "a scar from a childhood operation" as confirmed by a Palace spokesperson to People.
The palace sources would not elaborate on the details for privacy reasons.
But Kate Middleton isn't the only pretty face with an unsightly scar.
Prince William: When he was 13 he was left with a scar on his forehead after an accident with a golf club. In an interview in 2009, William said...

These are the stars involved in near-death experiences:
Kanye West: After a long night recording tracks for his debut album "College Dropout," Kanye fell asleep while driving and crashed into an SUV going 50 mph. He was left semi unconscious after he was sent jaw-first into the steering wheel. He ended up breaking his face in three places and had to have his jaw wired shut. The crash itself could have killed him but he survived. Three weeks after the accident he recorded the song "Through The Wire" with his jaw still clenched shut.
Orlando Bloom: Fresh off his film debut in 1998 Orlando fell three stories from a friends rooftop terrace. He was trying to fix something on their roof and climbed the drain when it collapsed and he fell three stories paralyzing him for four days.

Diane almost ran over Sharon with an electronic two-wheeled self-balancing vehicle once at a charity event, but luckily Sharon was a few inches off.
Sharon Stone: Meryl Streep Looks Like an Unmade Bed
She explained: "I was at this auction last year for amfAR - a foundation for AIDS research - and Sharon Stone was hosting. Josh and I were supposed to auction off a Segway. And for some reason I decided to get on it, wearing really high heels. I was totally off balance, and I nearly killed Sharon Stone.
"I'm not kidding. I ran over the train of her dress, and she stumbled and almost fell off the stage. Josh had to pull me off. I could see the headlines, 'Diane Kruger kills Sharon Stone'."
That would have been an interesting week! From amfAR to the hospital to a funeral. Phew, luckily Sharon's dress was the only one hurt in the incident.

During the interview, which seemed harmless at first, soon turned to her insulting Meryl saying she looks like an "unmade bed." Ouch!
“I think that’s why Meryl Streep is working so much, because she looks like a woman we can all relate to,” Stone told Tatler magazine.
“I look at her and I think, ‘I’m chasing my kids, I’ve moved my parents in with me, I’m coping with food spills - that looks like me in real life.’ Meryl looks like an unmade bed, and that’s what I look like. To me, that looks true.”
Sharon was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress and won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama for her role in Casino but she's got nothing on Meryl!
Meryl has received 15 Academy Award nominations, winning two, and 25 Golden Globe nominations, winning six, more nominations than any other actor in the history of either award. Take that Sharon!
Sharon's just being a hater. She doesn't look so good herself lately. We'd take Meryl over her any day!

According to Entertainment Weekly, Stone is joining the show for a four-episode arc beginning in April. And we even have details on her character—she’ll be playing a cop-turned prosecutor who goes up against Mariska Hargitay’s character.
“It is obviously a thrill and a delight to have a star of Sharon’s wattage and importance joining SVU,” says show producer Dick Wolf.
As you may recall, Sharon won an Emmy for her playing an attorney on The Practice. So no wonder they wanted her to join the show! We look forward to April!

Natasha was very involved in AIDS research through amFar, prior to her death in March. Stone was close friends with the actress, and wanted to show respect to her during the annual Cinema Against AIDS fundraiser.
An emotional Stone told the audience, "This year we lost an angel from our amfAR family. It was one of those random events that leaves you in a state of shock and profound grief. In March, the funny, graceful Natasha Richardson was taken from us.
"People say, 'Oh, she can't really have been that great or graceful.' She was. 'That funny, charming, sweet and elegant.' She was. She left behind her husband and two stunningly beautiful children and an unfinished mission to help us find a cure for AIDS."
A short film was screened, highlighting the work Richardson did for the charity. Stone pledged $50,000 in honor of Natasha, and then Annie Lennox took to the stage to perform Talking To An Angel, which she dedicated to the late star's memory, saying: "That was for Natasha."
It’s still so hard to believe Natasha Richardson is gone. She touched so many lives, and hopefully with organizations like amFar, her legacy will live on.

Sharon recently finished writing a collection of short stories, and is now shopping them around in hopes of landing a publishing deal.
Sharon insists the work is not about the movie industry, and they’re not autobiographical.
According to Fox News, the stories are a collection of mystery thrillers.
It’s like Sharon is taking her role of the murder novelist from Basic Instinct and making it her real life. But our question is, doesn’t she have enough money?
Why can’t actors just plain old retire? They always seem to have to reinvent themselves all the time. We credit Sharon for trying, but we think it’s time to throw in the towel!

The judge in the Sharon Stone custody case is pretty pissed at Sharon's parental skills. "Another example of an overreaction is that Mother suggested that Roan should have Botox injections in his feet to resolve a problem he had with foot odor," said the judge.
"As Father appropriately noted, the simple and common sense approach of making sure Roan wore socks with his shoes and used foot deodorant corrected the odor problem without the need for any invasive procedure on this young child."
The judge went on to say that he thinks Roan's father has given him nothing but unconditional love, while Sharon has gone out of her way to "put up roadblocks to Roan's getting help."
When Sharon argued that she put her career on hold for her son, the judge snapped back, "If Mother has, in fact, limited her career to make herself available for Roan, she has done little to make this evident to Roan, his school or this Court." Ouch! Talk about putting her in her place.

According to the court minute order dated September 12th, the reason is that the child's dad Phil Bronstein, "can provide a more structured continuity, stable, secure and consistent home for the child."
The two will continue to share joint custody of Roan, but he will remain living primarily with his father up north. It seems like the court even the knows that Sharon has a few screws loose up there.
