Shakira jetted back to her home country of Barranquilla, Colombia on Wednesday to open a $6 million school funded by her charity foundation.
The school, which is located in La Playa, will cater for 1,800 students and is the fifth school funded by Shakira's foundation Pies Descalzos, which means "barefoot" in Spanish. It will focus on bilingual and art education for underprivileged students.
How amazing is that? She's using her celebrity status to make a difference in children's lives. We're so impressed by what a great role model she is. If only more celebrities could donated their status to such worthwhile causes.
