After several months of speculation, the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer has confirmed her pregnancy.
This is the first child for the 35-year-old singer and her 25-years-old boyfriend and soccer star Gerard Pique. Congratulations to the happy couple!
This pregnancy was already pseudo confirmed by Gente magazine back in June and they claimed she was already six-months pregnant. If that were true, then she would probably be expecting her first child, oh, by the end of this month. Wait, what?
But finally Shakira herself has confirmed it on her blog, writing “As some of you may know, Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby! At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days.”
Because of baby, Shakira is cancelling her gig at the iHeartRadio Music Festival this weekend. If she’s really been pregnant for THAT long, she probably could have given them a heads up? This is all sorts of confusing.
And just in case you thought this was a surprise pregnancy, because what 25-year-old soccer stud is like “I can’t wait to have kids,” (Well, Christiano Ronaldo aside), Shakira previously told Gente magazine that the pregnancy was totally “planned.”
Huffpost Voces posted a report last month that Shakira had to keep her pregnancy under wraps because she was suffering from toxoplasmosis, which sounds like a fake thing, but is actually a parasitic disease that harms about 60 million pregnant women.
