Sex and the City

Sorry, boyfriends. Sex and the City lives on.

Because Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte are getting older, and The Golden Girls has already been done, producers have decided to go back in time with a TV series on the CW.

The Carrie Diaries is a book series that follows the life of Carrie Bradshaw from her senior year of high school to the early 1980s.

Sex and the City co-producer Amy B. Harris is set to adapt Candace Bushnell’s novel series and will serve as the showrunner. Len Goldstein of Warner Bros. Televisions Fake Empire will be executive producer. Fake Empire is the company behind Gossip Girl.
I don't know if it's the Sex and the City reruns every night on E! that's got Sarah Jessica Parker in the mood for more Carrie, but she's ready for SATC 3.

When asked about another SATC movie she told the L.A. Times, "I would go back. I think there's one more story to tell. I know there is."

But the backlash of SATC 2 is still burning. "I'd definitely tell that [third] story, and I know Michael would do it right," she says. "But maybe not now. Maybe in five years, you know?"

Why the wait? "It's not that I want to get away from it," she added. "In a million years, who could get away from it?"

I love SATC and Carrie Bradshaw as much as the next girl, if not more, but if she waits five years they'll have to rename the movie 'Viagra and the Retirement Home'.

Despite the fact that Sex and the City 2 was a flop, movie exes are still determined to make money off the franchise. Enter Blake Lively!

Blake is reportedly in talks with producer Michael Patrick King to play Carrie Bradshaw in the SATC prequel, cause well, SJP just can't pass as a 20 something year old anymore.

The prequel, The Carrie Diaries, will chronicle "Carrie Bradshaw's trials and tribulations in high school," as well as her move to New York at 19. That's where Blake comes in.

So will SJP and the other girls make a cameo? “There are no plans to bring SJP and the other girls back together in the old format,” a source tells Grazia. “The prequel is about breathing new life into the story and exploring Carrie’s first few months in NYC and the beginning of her relationship with an older man.”

It's safe to assume the girls are over doing another SATC movie. And why should they? Their children's children's children are set for life from the royalties they made on the show and movie.

Out with the old, in with the new...literally. What do you think of Blake playing Carrie? Who would you cast?

UPDATE: A rep for Lively exclusively tells Gossip Cop, “There is no truth to it.”

Chris Noth is definitely not happy that the Sex & the City 2 movie didn’t do as well as they expected. In fact he is very angry that the critics gave it such bad reviews that it killed the entire franchise.

Noth was at the premiere of Jack Goes Boating when a New York Magazine reporter started asking him questions about Sex and the City.

“It’s over. The franchise is dead,” Chris said. “The press killed it.”

“Your magazine f***ing killed it. New York Magazine. It’s like all the critics got together and said, ‘This franchise must die.’ Because they all had the exact same review. It’s like they didn’t see the movie. Got any more gum?”

Ouch! Gotta love his sense of humor though. Chris is one of the coolest people we’ve interviewed on the red carpet.
Studio bosses are so disappointed in Sex and the City 2 ticket sales, if there was any hopes of another movie, it's been scraped.

The producers were upset about the lackluster weekend ticket sales for the sequel, and they aren’t keen on putting their money into making another one. The sequel came third behind Shrek Forever After and Prince of Persia.

Did Sex & the City Suck? SATC2 Vs. SATC Original

“If the movie had performed as well as the studio had hoped they would definitely made a third film,” a source told PopEater.

“But after these numbers, it’s over. They have squeezed as much money out of that franchise as they possibly can and the public knows it.”

The critics were way too harsh on the movie. It ended up at #3 at the box office with $37 million. It got beat out by Prince of Persia ($37.8 million), and Shrek Forever After ($55.7 million).

The movie is about friendship, fashion and relationships. It was meant to be an Oscar nominated flick. So do yourself a favor and if you want to watch a great chick flick, forget the critics and watch it and you be the judge.
If you’re a woman, chances are you saw Sex and the City 2 this past weekend. But the big question is: Did you love it or hate it?

The second film has drawn a ton of criticism, which has almost overshadowed the film itself. It ended up at #3 at the box office with $37 million. It got beat out by Prince of Persia ($37.8 million), and Shrek Forever After ($55.7 million).

But enough about the numbers—was it good or not? If you ask Hollyscoop, we say yes! SATC is about female relationships, life changes, hardship, and fabulous clothes! Did we get all of that in SATC2? Yes!

That being said, it’s understandable that the sequel got so many bad reviews. The expectation that comes along with the franchise is massive, and many viewers likely went into the theater knowing they wouldn’t like it as much as the first movie, or as much as the series for that matter!

The first SATC movie was thrilling to everyone, not only because it marked the return of every woman’s favorite show, but we were finally getting the satisfaction of seeing Carrie and Big make things official.

This time around, the four women’s lives are all in limbo. Miranda hates her job, Samantha is trying to fight off menopause, Carrie and Big are in a rut, and Charlotte’s kids are driving her nuts. While it may not be as exciting as the first film’s storyline, it’s a reality every woman faces.

So was the sequel just a little too much reality and not enough fantasy for you? One thing we can probably all agree on—the clothes are still fabulous! Tell us what you think: Did SATC2 suck?

Sex and the City started the long weekend off with a bang! The movie made over $17 million dollars on Thursday alone. That's a lot of cosmo's!

The Hollywood Reporter quotes Warners domestic distribution president Dan Fellman saying, "Exceeding all expectations is the best way to open any film… Having $14.2 million in the bank at the start of a long holiday weekend is even better." The movie made an additional $3 million in midnight sales on Wednesday.

The New Line dramedy is expected to bring in over $62 million through this Memorial Day weekend. And we wouldn't be surprised if it hits the $70 mil mark.

Take it from us and don't listen to the stupid old critics. If a 70 year-old man is forced to watch SATC, of course he's going to hate it. It's a great chick flick and the fashion is 100x better than the first movie. Grab your girlfriends and head out to the theaters, you won't be disappointed!
That Michael Patrick King is a cleaver one! The executive producer of Sex and the City and Kim Cattrall thought up fake plot lines to shoot in front of the paparazzi in order to keep the real plot of the movie a secret.

A few months back Kim was photographed with a pregnancy test and a snapshot of her script mentioned her getting married. Well, it turns out it was all for show.

She says, "We were shooting on the street and the first day it was the four of us back together again and the paparazzi were everywhere. We had to be so careful with plot lines.

"One day I went to the set with my script in my hand, and some paparazzi blew up the script and gave away the storyline, so I said to Michael Patrick King, 'They're gonna ruin it for the fans!'

He said, 'I think we should play a little trick on them.' "I said, 'OK, what are we gonna do? What about pregnancy, they'll freak out if Samantha is pregnant!' He said, 'No, no, no, let's marry her.'

She continued, "So (designer) Patricia Fields went to a bridal shop and bought three wedding dresses. I tried them on and then it was all around the world: 'Samantha's getting married!'"

Nice trick! And it worked! Spoiler alert: Samantha doesn't get married in the movie, but there's a ton of other surprises. SATC 2 is in theaters now and sooooo worth the $12 bucks--so grab your girlfriends and check it out ASAP!
The star studded Sex and the City 2 premiere is underway and Hollyscoop will be streaming live so everyone can enjoy every single moment.
