Selena Gomez, actress, singer, and UNICEF Ambassador has just pledged her support for Malala Yousafzai, the 14-year-old activist in Pakistan who was shot in the head for advocating education for girls.

Selena posted on her Facebook page, “Please honor Malala Yousafzai by spreading her message of children’s right to an education.”

Selena also linked to a UNICEF petition to “Stand With Malala” if you believe in women’s equal right to an education.

Selena was one of the first celebs to get on board with support for Malala, who is currently resting in a UK hospital awaiting treatment.

Madonna also raised awareness for the young girl by stripping down during her concert last week to reveal Malala’s name inked on her back.

“This hurt me and made me cry, a 14-year-old Pakistani girl was shot on the school bus for writing a blog how important education was,” Madonna told the audience.

And then Angelina Jolie joined the cause and wrote a letter that was published on The Daily Beast that detailed the actress’ experience sharing Malala’s story with her children.

“It was difficult for them to comprehend a world where men would try to kill a child whose only ‘crime’ was the desire that she and others like her be allowed to go to school,” she said.

“Malala is proof that it only takes the voice of one brave person to inspire countless men, women, and children,” says Angelina.
