Sean Penn Fighting to Have Harvey Milk Recognized Nationwide

He might be done with the movie, he might have won an Oscar, but Sean Penn is not giving up fighting for Harvey Milk.

Sean Penn has joined a push to try to get the entire state of California to officially recognize Harvey Milk's birthday on May 22.

Penn is going to appear at a news conference today in San Francisco state Sen. Mark Leno, who will be announcing to reintroduce the bill. The bill is designed as a "day of significance" where schools recognize Harvey Milk and commemorate his life and all his contributions.

Senator Leno says, "Given California's fiscal crisis, the bill was written to have no cost to the state, and state workers and school employees would not get the day off from work."

If you guys recall, our Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed the same bill last year claiming that Milk should be honored in San Francisco and not statewide.

Sean should be honored for what he is doing. He has helped the gay movement so much with the movie "Milk" and now this. Thank you Sean from all the gay people in the country.
