Gerard Butler needs a raise. Next time you complain about your job, take solace in the fact that at least you didn’t almost die at work. And if you did almost die at work, well--you need a raise, too.

Last month, the 42 year-old actor was seriously injured in a surfing accident while filming the movie Mavericks.

Gerard said the accident “was maybe one of the few times that reports were not exaggerated. It was a pretty close call."

He added that a series of giant waves "just took me in, and I couldn't get up. It was pretty hairy."

A near death experience or NDE, as it's referred to by psychics and people who like acronyms, is a very scary experience. Some celebs have unfortunately experienced such a thing but thankfully have lived to tell their story.

These are the stars involved in near-death experiences:

Kanye West: After a long night recording tracks for his debut album "College Dropout," Kanye fell asleep while driving and crashed into an SUV going 50 mph. He was left semi unconscious after he was sent jaw-first into the steering wheel. He ended up breaking his face in three places and had to have his jaw wired shut. The crash itself could have killed him but he survived. Three weeks after the accident he recorded the song "Through The Wire" with his jaw still clenched shut.

Orlando Bloom: Fresh off his film debut in 1998 Orlando fell three stories from a friends rooftop terrace. He was trying to fix something on their roof and climbed the drain when it collapsed and he fell three stories paralyzing him for four days.

Usually in Hollywood everyone talks about the leading ladies who slim down once their careers take off but what about the dudes who get super skinny?

When everyone was blabbing about how Victoria Beckham was still a size zero after having 4 kids or how LeAnn Rimes is tweeting about not eating or whatever, let's talk about my boys who dropped the pounds and now look way hotter? Since most of Hollywood's leading men look chiseled from stone, let's give it up for the former fat kids who dropped the lbs and are now skinny boys too.

Jerry Ferrara: Jerry plays Turtle from "Entourage" and when the show first started back in 2004, he was the pudgy sidekick who the dudes practically had to beg girls to hook up with. Now Turtle has shed 55 lbs and went from muffin-top to 6 pack. I'm having a hard time watching Entourage now, because there's something unsettling about a hot dude named Turtle.

You can’t keep Sean Kingston down. After his nearly fatal jet-skiing accident in May and then a torn aorta days later that required open-heart surgery, Kingston seems to be recovering beautifully.

I'm 100 percent right now," he said. "What the accident basically taught me is, in life, you have to count your blessings," Kingston tells US.

Kingston truly is counting his blessings, his accident had him hospitalized for weeks, “"A lot of people don't know it was a deeper situation," the "Beautiful Girls" singer said. "I had open heart surgery and I had two other surgeries.”

The 2011 Teen Choice Awards were held on Sunday night and ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2' was clearly the big winner of the night. The movie won the Choice Summer Movie accolade, while Daniel Radcliffe picked up the Choice Summer Movie Star Male gong and his co-star Emma Watson won the female equivalent at the ceremony at the Gibson Amphitheatre, Los Angeles.

Harry Potter may have dominated the movies categories, but it was Taylor Swift who took home the most awards. She took home six prizes including Choice Music Female Artist, Country Music Female Country Artist, Choice Red Carpet Fashion Icon Female and Choice Music Country Single for her hit 'Mean'.

While accepting her Ultimate Teen Choice surfboard onstage, the 21-year-old singer joked: "It's been a long time since I was a teenager, like two years."

I really hope Sean Kingston has never seen Final Destination.

Kingston was hospitalized back in May with serious injuries from a jet-ski accident. And only eleven days after being released, Kingston felt a stabbing pain in his chest and was rushed to the operating room.

Turns out, he had a torn aorta and had to have emergency open-heart surgery. Yep, he almost died again.

"I had a lot of pain," Kingston, 21, says. "But when I went to visit the surgeon, he said, 'Yo, you had a guardian angel that day.'"

R&B singer Sean Kingston is left in critical but stable condition after his jet ski crashed into a bridge in Miami on Sunday. Let’s hope the pop star recovers fully and quickly from this frightening accident.

This isn’t the first time that a celeb has been involved in a scary accident.

Mariah Carey fell onstage while performing in Singapore in September 2010, not altogether alarming, except she was preggers and needed to be hospitalized afterwards! The good news is, we all know how that story turned out, Mariah gave birth to healthy twins in April while she belted, “Always Be My Baby.” Joking about that last part.

He is still in critical condition, but it is a good sign because he was in the trauma unit until now.
