Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina Flub Their Performances

It was a bad day for former American Idol winner Scotty McCreery and his runner up Lauren Alaina yesterday. No, they didn’t catch a house on fire while trying to deep fry a turkey, but both Idol alums had two bad performances at two separate events.

Scott McCreey performed on a float at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade and had an apparent lip sync fail. Everyone knows that the performers lip sync during that parade (because it’s too cold?) but poor 18-year-old McCreery couldn’t quite figure out how to hold on to the moving float and get his mouth to move along with the lyrics all at the same time.

His song began to play and while we “heard” McCreery start singing on the track we didn’t “see” McCreery sing. As the song “The Trouble With Girls” played he stood motionless, missing several words at the start of the song. They should re-name that song, “The Trouble With Lip Syncing.” Get it? Because he has trouble with Lip…never mind.

So anyways, McCreerys stumbled to catch up to his own pre-recorded voice while the NBC cameras pulled out to a wide shot to give the pop star some time to catch up. Finally he did and the parade went off without a hitch.

Elsewhere on Thanksgiving, American Idol runner up Lauren Alaina was to perform the “Star Spangled Banner” at the Detroit Lions/Green Bay Packers game. Alaina started the performance fine, but when she got to the lyric “What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming,” she paused for several seconds and couldn’t remember the rest of the lyrics.

To jog your memory, this is the same song that Christina Aguilera screwed up at last years Super Bowl performance. She also couldn’t remember the lyrics to a song that is taught to every American and is played at every sporting event, Fourth of July and elementary school talent show.

So anyways, to confess to her patriotic mishap she tweeted her apologies for not remembering the lyrics to the song.

“I’m not a robot. I have no excuses. I messed up. You know, what can you do? At least I didn’t fall down again.” Tweeted Alaina, “Thank you everyone for the kind words. But the truth is I messed up. I’m gonna spend the rest of the day being thankful for all my blessings.”

Hey, McCreery actually won American Idol and still forgot the lyrics to a song he didn’t even have to sing. He just had to open his mouth and blow air in and out and he couldn’t even do that.
