Scarlett Johansson has ditched the film roles for a walk on Broadway.
She stars opposite Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter star Benjamin Walker in the classic stage play “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.”
It’s the Broadway revival of the classic Tennessee Williams play, meaning it’s a big deal for the actress, who hasn’t done many decent films lately.
The show just opened for previews this week and will officially open at NYC’s Richard Rodgers Theater on Jan. 17.
In the show, Scarlett plays a frustrated sex vixen, but ScarJo recently told sources she wanted to put a new spin on the tired role.
“I think her sexuality is often overplayed and over-appreciated. It's such an unimportant part of this story. I mean, it comes with the circumstance, of course, and the settling and the words—that's already there. There's no need to drape yourself all over the stage and roll around in a satin sheet,” Scarlett reportedly told sources.
Reviews from the show have yet to surface, so for now, take a look and we’ll wait for the review to pile up in 2013.
