Today would have been Tupac Shakur’s 40th birthday. It’s hard to believe so much time has passed since he was gunned down, but now, 15 years after his death we’re starting to get new information about his murder.
Dexter Issac, who is doing life in prison confessed this week that he was hired to shot Tupac back in 1994. Tupac died in 1996.
In the note, he claims James Rosemond paid him $2,500 to rob Tupac in Manhattan in 1994, which led to his shooting.
He wrote on website AllHipHop.com: "Now I would like to clear up a few things, because the statute of limitations is over, and no one can be charged, and I'm just plain tired of listening to your lies. I still have as proof the chain we took in the robbery.”
"Now I'm not going to talk about my friend Biggie's death or 2Pac's death, but I would like to give their mothers some closure. It's about time that someone did, and I will do so at a different time."
Obviously police are now investigating the claims, but it makes me wonder why he waited 15 years after his death, and 17 after the shooting to come clean? He’s already doing life in prison so it’s not like he was scared he was going to get jail time.
Some people are skeptical about his claims because some of the dates he mentioned don’t match up. Do you believe his claims?
