Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick to Live Apart

Sarah Jessica Parker is celebrating the birth of her twins by moving out of the New York apartment she shares with her husband Matthew Broderick.

SJP and Matthew have been married for 12 years and have three children together, but they've decided that living apart is the best thing for their kids right now. Really?!

A source said: “It would be a surprising decision to make so soon after the arrival of their twins. Having the babies born healthy and happy was a dream come true, so it’s strange that they might have to spend some time apart at this stage.

“No one can quite believe it, but it’s clear they’re making the right decision for all the right reasons.”

Matthew will remain at their New York apartment, while SJP moves to Brooklyn. She's already reportedly purchased a multi million-dollar nine-bedroom home in Brooklyn.

We're actually quite shocked by this news. Does this mean a divorce isn't too far away? Or has their marriage lasted so long because they're always apart? What are your thoughts?

and another thing--NO ITS NOT NORMAL FOR PEOPLE WHO'VE BEEN MARRIED ALL THOSE YEARS TO SIMPLY LIVE APART. NO IT WOULDN'T MAKE THEIR MARRIAGE STRONGE! i've heard of people having to live apart for different reasons when they're married, but it won't strengthen a partnership no matter how you put it. it's the same as saying sleeping in separate beds when you're married makes you closer *rolls eyes*.

the only reason they stayed together was because the media made their plans to split so public and embarrassing. and the public believed they were happy simply because they went out holding hands a few times. i think the birth of the twins was planned way before the decided split, but they stayed together for appearances. sjp always said she wanted more children so it wasn't surprising. and everyone always heard the rumors that he was gay.

What a shame for the and the kids. I wondered why they used a surrogate after having their own child via SJP the first time. Who knows?! Seems selfish of them to have these twins if they knew they were going to seperate!

I agree with PookiePD. There were rumors of him with a stripper or something and then all went quiet. After a while they showed up at the oscars and he looked "out of it" and aging, then the twins, and now this. What really happened I guess we will never know. Sorry to hear it.

One one hand I'm not surprised, rumors have been swirling about problems for some time. They had to have known this for awhile. Why bring two more children into a unhealthy marriage?

Sarah JP is a dedicated and loving mom-- I sat near her a the ballet once a few years ago and she was alone with her little boy--Matthew was nowhere around. She was very kind and sweet to my mom and I, just a really nice person, not just a star. Maybe Matthew's busy life interferes with the stability so she's getting a bigger house to have a normal childhood for the kids. I will give her the benefit of the doubt always after meeting her in person. She is genuine.

Do not understand they wanted the babies and now want to live apart. Not good for the children. Someone must be playing around and can not see Matthew being the one. Such a big step guess the love they thought they had just is not there.
