The Help\'s Viola Davis Announces Plans For Adoption
Celebrities love adopting kids. Need to promote a movie? Adopt a kid. Want to improve your image, adopt two! Hey, everybody wins. Some poor kid gets to leave the third world, and a celebs' IMDB Starmeter shoots up.

The latest star to join the adoption bandwagon is The Help actress Viola Davis. David and her husband, actor Julius Tennon, are currently in the process of adopting, according to E! News. Davis confirmed at the red carpet premiere for her new flick:

"Yes, we are about to adopt a baby."

The couple says they're planning to adopt "domestically," in the U.S., but other than that, they didn’t say anything else. It will be their first child, but Tennon has two children from previous relationships.

Denise Richards also recently adopted. Coincidentally, it was right around the time she was promoting her book, The Real Girl Next Door. Richards named her daughter Eloise Joni.

And after her split from Jesse James and her Oscar win, Sandra Bullock announced that she had adopted a son, Louis Bardo. The child was born in New Orleans. Sandra named him after Louis Armstrong because she says she had "What a Wonderful World" in her head the moment she saw him. Thank God she didn’t have a 2 Live Crew song suck in her head.

"The first time I met Louis, it was like the whole outside world got quiet," Bullock says. "It was like he had always been a part of our lives."

And amid controversy, Madonna adopted her son David Banda Mwale from Malawi in 2006. Drama struck when it became public knowledge that Malawian law required adopting parents to live in the country for a year. Eventually, the adoption was finalized. And it didn’t stop Madonna from adopting again a few years later, from the same country.

Back in 2009, Elton John reportedly tried to adopt a 14-month-old Ukrainian child who was HIV positive. He was denied the adoption because Elton was not married.

"I don’t know how we do that, but he has stolen my heart. And he has stolen David’s heart and it would be wonderful if we can have a home,” John said at the time.

Two years later, John and his partner David Furnish had a child through a surrogate.

Other celebs who have adopted include Hugh Grant, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, Ewan McGregor, Kirstie Alley and Sharon Stone.

Hey, leave some for Angelina!
