Salma Hayek Won't Baptize Daughter

Salma Hayek

Oh oh! Salma Hayek's parent's aren't going to be thrilled about this one! First Salma said she wasn't going to marry her baby daddy and now she says she won't baptize little Valentina Paloma, which clashes with her parents' religious beliefs.

Salma's producer pal Felipe Fernandez del Paso recently spent Easter with her and has confirmed that Valentina won't be christened.

He tells PeopleEnEspanol.com, "The little girl is about to turn six months old. She's beautiful. Salma doesn't want her to be baptized because she just doesn't feel like it."

Because she doesn't feel like it? Come on buddy, you gotta do better than that! And what's with 'pals' always snitching on their celebrity friends to the press?

You go girl. Religion is the opiate of the masses. She is an intelligent women and intelligence and fairytales don't mix.

Whenever someone refers to religion as a "fairy tale" or the "opitate of the people", it is obvious that one has not spent one minute in critical thought; but has summarily dismissed theology as not worth thinking about! A more reasoned statement would have been that Salma has the right to baptise or not baptise her child, because all bapitsm does, sans the will of the baptisted to commit themselves to Jesus, is get the child wet! Go read something other than Marx!

I agree, I think she should be blessed, but baptised, thats something the child has to do for herself, it won't save her, but she is already under her parents protection, she will be blessed and I hope she loves her parents. M.P.

Well I don't believe that anyone (who isn't overly strong on cultural traditions) should decide their child's life faith for them, as that is something that they need to decide for themselves. It's good to teach them to believe in God or something, but my mum didn't baptize us (though like Salma's baby we were blessed which is fine) as she thought we might not want to be Catholic when we're older, and I'm glad that she didn't at the time, as I now have my own beliefs and faith that isn't Catholic.
