Who knew comedy actor Ryan Reynolds went through such a dark time? At only 19 years-old, Reynolds was partying with his friends in Vancouver, but walking home, he was hit by a drunk driver. Reynolds recounts the incident:
“When I was 19 I was drinking... I was at a bar and I had a few drinks and I thought, 'You know what I'm going to do? I'm going to leave my car here, be responsible.' And I started to walk home. And I was hit by a drunk driver.”
For the next three days, Reynolds was in a coma.
“Broke every bone in my left side... I woke up three days later. And I remember my dad sitting there... (with) a vomit tray. And I guess I had been heaving in my unconscious. And nothing says love like painting someone with three-day-old Gin Rummies. Just soaked the man head to toe in my vomit."
Reynolds jokes, “Since then, I've been a rickety, broken mess.”
But of course, Reynolds isn't the only celebrity to survive a near-fatal car crash. In 2002, Kanye West was also involved in a car accident that forced him to have his jaw wired shut. The incident led to his single, Through the Wire.
There weren't any drugs or alcohol involved, but Kanye was cut off by a car and ran head-on into traffic, colliding with another vehicle.
And then only a year ago, George Michael was involved in his seventh car accident. He was charged with drug possession and driving while under the influence.
There's a few lessons here, kids. No drunk driving. And for the love of god, keep your hands at 10 and 2.
