Sure Phelps can still beat him in the pool lanes, but who’s the better actor?
Ryan Lochte is embracing his brand new celebrity status. Along with jetting off to start a new life and fashion line in Los Angeles, the five-time Olympic gold medalist has just landed a cameo appearance on the CW show “90210.”
According to People magazine, Lochte will appear on an episode airing October 29, as himself. The network announced the news on Tuesday.
“When we found out Ryan Lochte was going to be in town and might appear on 90210, we felt like we'd won a gold medal,” the show's executive producers Patti Carr and Lara Olsen said in a statement. “Team USA are all-stars in our book, and we're so excited he's making an appearance on the show.”
Rather than what viewers might expect, Lochte will not appear in the pool doing laps, but instead be playing a guest at a resort that characters Naomi Clark, played by AnnaLynne McCord, and Max Miller, played by Josh Zuckerman, visit. The TV couple goes to the resort in order to help strengthen their relationship.
“We only wish the episode was a surf event so we could have gotten [Ryan] in the water,” Carr and Olsen continued. “But he deserves a little rest on dry land.”
In addition to guest-starring in the drama, the swimmer has expressed interest in the doing reality shows like the ABC’s dancing competition series “Dancing with the Stars.”
No doubt, the swimmer is excited about the new challenge, as he retweeted a message from the CBS Studios that 90210 could officially join the “Lochtenation.”
