Ryan Gosling and Lena Dunham to Star in 'Fifty Shades of Grey?'

Brett Easton Ellis, the guy who wrote the book “American Psycho” that inspired the sick and twisted film of the same name wants to write the film adaptation of the racy new novel “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

This is great news! He also wants Ryan Gosling to play Christian Grey! This is even better news. He wants Lena Dunham, star of HBO series “Girls” to play Anastasia Steele. This is the worst idea I’ve ever heard! Look at that photo of Lena above. I rest my case.

Bret Easton Ellis has taken to his Twitter to announce all the casting news. It’s hard to tell if this is actual casting news or just wishful thinking by the writer.

It all started yesterday when Ellis wrote, “I’m putting myself out there to write the movie adaptation of “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

Then he started writing a Twitter novel leaving us “Fifty Shades Of Grey” fangirls literally salivating.

“Today the team has been briefed and we will be approaching the studio this week about [Ellis] adapting Fifty Shades of Grey into a film.”

Here’s where the story gets good, “I think David Cronenberg is a great idea for directing Fifty Shades of Grey and we worked together on American Psycho in its initial phase.”

He then throws out Alexander Skarsgard as his FIRST choice for the role of Christian Grey, “Cronenberg and Alexander Skarsgard is a no-brainer. I’ve seen Alexander naked so many times at the gym that we both attend: perfect casting.”

He's seen him naked at the gym? What gym? Where? I mean, that's cool.

But he doesn’t know who to choose to play Anastasia –

“I would love it if we lived in a world where Lena Dunham could be Ana in Fifty Shades of Grey, but I don’t think we do. I think she’s hot,” says the writer.

Well, I think a lot of people would protest that decision, because a simple "Lena Dunham" Google search is enough to make you never feel the same way about "Fifty Shades" ever again. So he changes his mind.

“Thinking more conventionally for Ana in Fifty Shades of Grey: Scarlett Johansson or Kristen Stewart," says Ellis.

He also throws out some more male casting ideas for Christian Grey.

"Alex Pettyfer for Christian: too young? Aaron Johnson as Christian Grey? In a perfect world it would be Ryan Gosling as Christian Grey.”

Yes, absolutely perfect! Actually Aaron Johnson and Skarsgard wouldn’t be bad either. Can we get like a CGI robot made of facial composites from all three? Can we make THAT happen?

“David Cronenberg directing. Bret East Ellis writing. Ryan Gosling acting. Fifty Shades of Grey team.”

It seems like this “Fifty Shades” film is really happening. But the only hang-up in Hollywood is who should play Anastasia…who do you think should play Ana? Tweet us @Hollyscoop.
