Russell Brand must have done something right last year, because he’s been asked to host this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. The show will take place in September at Madison Square Garden, and the production’s theme is West Side Story.
Russell couldn’t be happier to have been chosen as this year’s host again. A source tells The Sun, “He is over the moon. It’s the first time ever that the same host has been used for two consecutive years, which means a lot to him. He has had to promise not to offend the Jonas Brothers again though.”
Russell was pretty controversial last year. A lot of people thought he took his jokes a little too far. But maybe he’ll have gotten all the kinks out this time around.
In other VMA news, Taylor Swift has been announced as the first performer for the show. Taylor said in a statement, "I'm so excited that MTV and the VMAs have invited me to perform, because I think this year's show will be unlike anything they've ever done!"
"I love incorporating theatrics into my performances, and the VMAs have always allowed artists to run with that. MTV has been so good to me, and I could not be more excited about this year's VMAs."
Sounds like MTV has some tricks up their sleeve for this year’s show! Anything for ratings!
