Russell Brand is slowly but surely becoming a household name. Fresh off hosting the VMAs, he's just signed a deal with Comedy Central for his own special. He'll have his own one-hour comedy special that will air in Spring 2009.
Comedy Central senior vice president Elizabeth Porter says, "Russell Brand's comedy is a perfect match for our audience. American audiences who have been exposed to Russell through Forgetting Sarah Marshall and the VMAs have seen just the tip of the iceberg."
Russell says of his new gig, "Comedy Central is the home of 'South Park,' 'The Daily Show,' and 'The Sarah Silverman Program.' I am thrilled to have such esteemed neighbors -- particularly Sarah whom I shall be constantly troubling for cups of sugar and milk, breast milk."
The special will feature Brand and "an eclectic roster of special guests" and will tape in November in New York City, for broadcast in 2009.
