Russell Brand, the shocking and crass British humorist and Katy Perry's husband will be getting his own late-night talk show on FX.
Well, the deal he just signed is for a six-episode daily half-hour late night series, but that doesn't mean it wont last longer than a week of episodes, assuming we can figure out what he's talking about, I mean, his accent is really hard to understand. Kitty Pears E? Kutty Pearly? Oh KATY PERRY!
Brand is incredibly excited, especially since most of his US film roles have been misses (i.e. "Get Him To The Greek" and "Arthur" ehhhh). He told The Hollywood Reporter, "I am so excited I'm on the point of climax, in fact I will put the "O" into FX, which spells Fox, which is actually the channel's real name. That's the only thing that worries me about all this to be honest. At least I'll be able to have a Christmas drink with Bull O'Reilly."
I've never understood how FX gets away with shocking TV shows when they are under the umbrella of the ultra conservative FOX network, but FX executive Nick Grad says:
"We’re very excited to add Russell Brand’s bracingly funny, original, and honest voice to the FX comedy lineup. We look forward to supporting Russell and his partner Troy Miller’s ambition to strip down the hosted comedy format to its most fundamental elements and to create something daring and unfiltered for the FX audience.”
The series is set to debut in the spring and will feature Brand's take on current events, politics and pop culture, and each installment in the six-episode project will be taped for a live audience and will feature Brand interacting with those in attendance.
