Considering he owns nearly all of the media, I’m surprised we’ve even heard about this, but some protester was so angry at the Rupert Murdoch phone hacking scandal, he tried to throw a pie in his face.
I would congratulate the guy for trying, but Rupert Murdoch terrifies me. Sure, he looks like a cute little grandpa, but this guy is basically a real-life Mr. Burns.
Members of British Parliament have been holding a hearing for the News Corp. founder over the recent incident in which celebrities, politicians and victims’ phones were allegedly hacked into by News of the World staff.
After two hours of testimony on Tuesday, a man in a plaid shirt approached Murdoch and attempted to throw a pie of white foam at him. Murdoch’s wife struck the man to get him out of the way.
One of the lawmakers told Murdoch, “Your wife has a very good left hook.”
Questioning was suspended for fifteen minutes, and Labour MP Chris Bryant said, “It’s a contempt of parliament to do something like this.”
When he was questioned about the building’s security, Bryant responded, “I guess they weren’t looking for shaving foam.”
