Rosie O'Donnell Engaged to Michelle Rounds

After meeting at a Starbucks earlier this year, Rosie O’Donnell and girlfriend Michelle Rounds have decided to tie the knot.

See, singles? It is possible to meet people at Starbucks. As long as you’re looking for aspiring screenwriters, broke college students too poor to pay for their own Internet, or Rosie O’Donnell.

The 49 year-old announced the news to her Rosie Show studio audience on Friday that the pair will exchange vows over Christmas. Rosie and Michelle have had a whirlwind romance, making their public debut just a few months ago, in September. Michelle is a corporate head-hunter for a New York technology company, and according to friends, she and Rosie are “very, very happy.”

If you don’t believe it, just check out the pics of these two riding around on a motorcycle in Miami together. Rosie is wearing crocs. When you’re at the point in your relationship that you’re wearing crocs around your significant other, I think it’s pretty obvious you’ve comfortably decided to settle down. Yup, if anything proves you’re in it for the long haul, it’s a pair of crocs.

Rosie was previously married to Nickelodeon marketing exec, Kelli Carpenter. The two have four children together, but they split in 2007. Since then, she briefly dated an artist named Tracy Kachtick-Anders earlier this year.

The parents of Michelle Rounds claim they only just found out their 40 year-old daughter was a lesbian. Her father, Roger Rounds, said:

“It totally hit us out of left field... We only found about Michelle liking girls when all this came out about them a few weeks ago. It's been hard to take."

He added that: “This has been a painful experience for me and my wife ... We'd always held out hope that Michelle would eventually find a nice guy to marry, settle down and have kids.”

Roger continued: “And now this—it’s pretty shocking stuff for us to digest.”

If anything, marrying Rosie O’Donnell is a good way to get your parents to accept that your lesbianism isn’t just a phase you’re going through.

O’Donnell recently recalled the first time she met Michelle: “I walked into a Starbucks in the summer and she was holding a little puppy. I thought she was a 28-year-old heterosexual girl because that's what she looked like to me."
