Rosie O’Donnell is a mom again!
The sometimes grating, yet ever-present comedy personality and her wife, Michelle Rounds, have welcomed a daughter into their family. And, despite what conclusion your brain may jump to, Rosie did NOT steal the kid.
The happy news came in the form of a social media announcement from the 50-year-old LGBT activist and poem-blogger’s Twitter account.
In the accompanying Instagram shot, the beaming couple huddles around their little bundle of joy.
Along with the photo, Rosie wrote this caption: “we r thrilled to announce the arrival of r daughter Dakota - #withloveandthanks – AMEN."
USA Today reports that the baby was actually born several days ago. According to the outlet’s story, Dakota was born on January 5th, weighing in at 5 pounds, 5 ounces.
Their rep says: “Moms and baby are happy and healthy.”
According to the UK’s Daily Mail, the child was adopted.
This is a happy ending to what has been a bumpy ride for the couple on their journey to become parents.
In January 2012, Rosie told Dr. Oz that Rounds, an NYC-based executive-search consultant, was “trying to get pregnant.” But tragedy struck when Rounds was diagnosed with desmoid tumors, rendering her unable to become pregnant due to required surgeries.
Shortly after, news broke that Rosie had suffered a heart attack.
“i googled womens heart attack symptoms / i had many of them /but really? – i thought – naaaa,” she blog-mused at the time. “i took some bayer aspirin / thank god / saved by a tv commercial / literally…”
But, with their wide Instagram-published smiles as proof, it seems that the stormy skies are behind this couple.
Rosie and Michelle got engaged in December 2011. They were married in June 2012 at a private ceremony.
