Carey Gets Price Is Right Gig

July 23, 2007

Drew Carey commmeeeee onnnn dowwnnnn! Sorry Rosie O'Donnell and Steve Sanders, but Comedian Drew Carey got the gig as host of the "Price is Right."

He confirmed on "The Late Show" with David Letterman stating, "It's a done deal. I'm the new host of "The Price Is Right.'"

So what do y'all think, will Drew do a good job or did you guys think Rosie or Ian Zeiring would have done a better job?

I think we have to remember what Bob, himself said about the show. Bob remarked that it's the audience participation format that makes the show work...you need someone that works well with a live audience and can make them feel apart of the action. With Drew's comedy background and being the host of Whose line is it anyway, an AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION improv format, I think he's a great choice for Price. Drew's challenge will be filling Barker's shoes. I think we all need to give him a fair shake. Bob couldn't do the job forever just as no human lives forever, the time had to come sooner or later and I think Bob handled it gracefully. If you caught ET last week, you'll note that Barker himself is very happy with Drew taking over. chuck woolery never worked an audience participation format show and wouldn't be animated enough. I also feel that Rosie O'Donnell, had she been offered the job would've wrecked the price train fast. Aside from that, I think we all need to give Drew a chance and keep on loving the show we grew up with!

What about Doug Davidson? He hosted the nightime TPIR. He would have been the perfect one to take over for the distinguished Bob Barker because he is distinguished and handsome as well.

Awful choice, All you people saying "at least it wasn't Rosie" need to wake up and notice she was never really considered for the job anyway. That was just the Hollywood gossip machine. I don't think Drew Carey was the right choice. Not every B-list comedian makes a good game show host. Jon Bauman failed at hosting Hollywood Squares. Louie Anderson failed at hosting Family Feud, and I'm predicting Drew Carey will have the same fate with TPIR.

I think that alot of people would have been a better choice. Drew really does not have much of a sense of humor and he looks funny and not distinguished like Bob. They must be trying to take the show off the air to bring him onboard. Bye Bye Price!!

The show will die a slow, painful death.

he reminds me of that venerable game show host Bil Cullen, dry humor, crew cut, glasses. Excellent choice.

Give ME a break - Chuck Woolery or Bill Dwyer? Those two mindless phonies? Dumbing down television? It's a friggin' game show - that's pretty mindless television as it is. Drew Carey will probably do a good job. As Don said he is a humble guy unlike a lot of the successful Hollyweird types. He is also funny and down to earth. I don't watch the show but I am glad they didn't give it to O'donnel that lunatic freak.

Drew Carey, gimme a break! This is just another case of dumbing down television. Chuck Woolery or Bill Dwyer would have been much better choices.

Ryan Stiles would've been better.

Perfect Choice!!! He is funny, engaging and humble. If you have not seen him on "Whose Line is it Anyway" than get ready for some fun.

I don't know how people can openly bash the guy and already say they're a "former viewer." Geez, you may not like Drew Carey from what you've seen but at least give him a chance before you abandon the show. Personally, I'm very happy for Drew because I loved his sitcom and "Whose Line is it Anyway?"

I don't know how Drew Carey will do in the spot - he has mighty big shoes to fill - but he is DEFINATELY a better choice than O'Donnell. I had resigned myself to never being able to watch the show again - a discouraging thought, since I've watched it from the beginning. I will NEVER watch another show that Rosie O'Donnell is involved with!!
6:32PM 07/23/07 Nvr wrong 'bout these things
First O'Donnell, now Carey...What are they thinking...I estimate it will take less than 2 years (probably 1)for the required number of viewers to abandon this show and unwind what Barker built during the past 30 years. The robotic comic Carey WILL NOT make this work! This is a real joke as far as I am concerned. Former viewer

Drew needs to get get in better shape for this show. Drop the pounds..Did he foget he had a heart attack a few years back???
5:54PM 07/23/07 oldr not wiser
Might work out but he is not as smooth as Bob was from day 1. Only time will tell
5:51PM 07/23/07 hahaha
Bad Choice.. I just don't think he's a good fit for that job. Sorry!

I don't hate Drew, but I think it would be better to have a women this time to give the show a change.

Good choice. Carey's witty and (mostly) likeable. He's had some loutish behavior in his past, but who hasn't?
