For the 18th annual “Hollywood Issue” of Vanity Fair, 11 talented up-and-coming female actresses were selected to cover the mag. Shot by the infamous Mario Testino, the following 11 ladies were selected for the coveted VF photoshoot: Rooney Mara, Mia Wasikowska, Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, Elizabeth Olsen, Adepero Oduye, Shailene Woodley, Paula Patton, Felicity Jones, Lily Collins and Brit Marling.
The girls are all dolled up in 1920’s old Hollywood Glamour. Rooney Mara got a gothic bob look. Mia Wasikowska looks like Marilyn Monroe. Lily Collins could pass for Marion Cotillard and Jessica Chastain is a dead-ringer for Jessica Rabbit.
Here are the highlights and best quotes from this stunning, pull-out cover shoot.
I hate to say this, but Rooney Mara kind of mumbles…like everything…so I’m trying to find an interesting quote from her, but I can’t really figure out what she’s talking about. She did say that her high-school celebrity crush was Radiohead frontman Tom Yorke, and when asked if she’s proud of her work in The Girl With The Dragon tattoo she said, “I haven’t seen it yet, I’m sure I’ll see it eventually.”
Jennifer Lawrence from the “Hunger Games” got a little TMI in the interview.
She revealed her embarrassing moment with Robert DeNiro when she didn’t give him the obligatory wrap gift at the end of working on a film together.
“Two days ago I told Robert DeNiro I wasn’t going to get him a wrap gift. He got me a present and I was like, ‘did I ever thank you for it?’ and he was like ‘no, it’s okay’ and I was like, ‘Well, I’m probably not going to get you anything.’” I guess her sarcasm was lost on him?
Lawrence also reveals her total celeb crush on Justin Timberlake, “When I was little, like 90’s era, I had such a crush on Justin Timberlake from N’Sync that I almost threw up.” Girrrll, me too. Minus the “I almost threw up” part.
“The Help” star Jessica Chastain reveals she’s getting used to becoming a celebrity.
“Every time I meet a famous person I’m such a geek,” reveals Jessica Chastain before going into a long anecdote of her first time meeting Meryl Streep and nearly blacking out and just holding her hands for a bizarrely long period of time.
As for Mia Wasikowska, she says she wishes Hollywood was actually located in the South of France, and says if she wasn’t an actress, “I would be a photographer, I am anyways, I always take photographs.”
