When life comes crashing down around you, it’s best to turn to globs of ice cream and comedy.
That’s just what Rob Pattinson did during his interview with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show.” The Twilight actor made his first public appearance since longtime girlfriend Kristen Stewart admitted to cheating on him with the married director of Snow White and the Huntsmen. But bash her he did not…
Instead, Mr. Pattinson did his best to avoid the issue entirely.
“I don't know how to approach this. This is the weird thing about these interviews. I'm going to sound like an idiot," Pattinson said.
He continued, “My biggest problem is that I don't have a publicist. I'm going to have to hire a publicist."
You need a publicist? How about a girlfriend who isn’t a soul-sucking trampire?
Sensing the audience’s need from some closure, Stewart continued to push the topic. Rob snacked on a pint Ben & Jerry’s ice cream that the host offered him, claiming that they were “just a couple of gals talking” and to “tell me everything.”
Stewart helped the bashful actor along with some veteran advice, assuring him that when young people breakup it often feels like the end of the world.
“It is,” Rob replied.
Cue the audience sympathy as everyone joined in with a resounding “Awwwwwww.”
The main reason that Rob appeared on the show – though it was the least talked about with the gigantic breakup elephant in the room – was to promote his new movie Cosmopolis where he stars as Eric Packer, a 28-year-old billionaire in an odyssey-like film set in Manhattan.
In addition to “The Daily Show,” Rob will make appearances this week on ABC’s “Good Morning America” (Wednesday) and MTV News (Friday) and next week on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (Wednesday, August 22).
