Robert Downey Jr. to Follow the Yellow Brick Road
Sam Mendes is jumping on the 'Movies That Shouldn't Be Remade' bandwagon and is planning on directing the remake of Wizard of Oz--and Robert Downey Jr. is already on board!

According to ONTD, Sam is the front runner to direct Oz The Great and Powerful, which is based partly on the L. Frank Baum books that also gave us such films as The Wizard of Oz and Return to Oz.

Robert's on a role right now but with Iron Man 2 right around the corner, when will he find time to shoot this? He's going to be traveling the world doing promos for the movie. Sam should have asked Johnny Depp to star in the movie. How great would that have been??

Other Wizard of Oz movies in the works right now include New Line's adaptation The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and Warner Bros.' Oz, which sends Dorothy's granddaughter to Oz to "fight evil," according to the LA Times.

What do you guys think of Sam Mendes remaking Wizard of Oz? Will you watch it?
