Robert Downey Jr. Signs Big Deal!

Actor Robert Downey Jr. can pick out that new sports car he's been eyeballing because he's about to get a lot richer.

Robert just reportedly signed a lucrative contract with Marvel Studios that guarantees him the lead in the next two Iron Man blockbusters. As if that wasn't enough reason to celebrate, they've locked him in to play Tony Stark in the superhero all-stars film The Avengers.

Also, his talented good buddy Jon Favreau will take the helm as producer on The Avengers. Considering the fact that the first Iron Man took in $580 million around the globe, it comes as no surprise that Robert would want to remain in the successful family. Iron Man 2 is scheduled to be released in May 2010.
