Robert Downey Drops Out of Film to Work on Holmes Sequel
Robert Downey Jr. is on board for the Sherlock Holmes sequel! In fact, he’s so committed to it that he’s decided to drop out of the film Cowboys & Aliens so he has more time to work on the sequel.

He’s even leaving his Iron Man director Jon Favreau in the dust! Sources tell Entertainment Weekly the two movies’ production schedules collide with each other, even though the Holmes sequel hasn’t technically been greenlit by Warner Brothers.

Insiders say however, because of the success of the first one, the sequel will be fast-tracked soon. Sherlock Holmes has made almost $300 million worldwide.

Warner Brothers is now locking down the cast for a June start date, exactly the time when Cowboys & Aliens is set to begin principal photography. Producers behind Cowboys & Aliens are sticking with original plans and are now looking for a new lead to play cowboy Zeke Jackson, the hero of the movie.

Robert Downey is a tough person to recast!
