First Look: 'Iron Man 3' Blasts Into Our Attention Spans

Tony Stark is back!

It’s never too early to start getting pumped about the latest arrival from the Avengers clan. Seven months ahead of schedule a trailer for Iron Man 3 has arrived and Hollyscoop has you covered on the details.

“Got a lot of apologies to make,” reads Robert Downey Jr. as the billionaire Stark. “I haven’t been the same since New York.”

Iron Man 3, as presented in the two-minute promo, will cut to the core of our hero whose laidback, yet cocky demeanor is shattered when his personal life is attacked by an unknown enemy.

“I can’t sleep… And when I do I have nightmares,” says Stark. “Honestly, there’s a hundred people that want to kill me.”

Meanwhile, every kind of explosion imaginable – buildings, planes, Iron Man suits, etc. – play out over the dialogue.

We get a flash of Guy Pearce as Dr. Aldrich Killian, a villain in this installment who is a little too comfortable with the term “terrorist.” The comic book source material has Killian developing a “super-soldier solution” which he sells to a domestic rebel movement.

Also making an appearance in the trailer is Ben Kingsley as the long hair-wearing, creepy eye Mandarin. (He gives me the willies.) Not to mention the return of the charming love interest Pepper Potts handled by Gwyneth Paltrow.

The film promises to present Tony Stark with an existential Iron Man conundrum: “Does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?”

He will face his greatest battle – a personal one - in order to come up with an answer to that one…

But hang onto your pants for now, readers…Iron Man 3 doesn’t snap, crackle and pop into theaters until May 3, 2013.

In the meantime, check out the trailer below!
