Biography

American actor Robert Downey Jr. was born on April 4, 1965 in New York City. Starting at the age of five, Robert made minor appearances in his father's films. His first notable film was Tuff Turf, starring opposite James Spader in 1985. Downey also had a significant role in Weird Science. Robert Downey, Jr. and his wife, Susan, have welcomed a baby boy into the world early this morning. I mean, it’s always too early to be having a baby, but this thing came in at 7:24a.m.

Robert’s rep confirmed the news and ridiculously early time of arrival to People.

A source said: “Everyone is healthy and they couldn’t be happier. Exton Elias Downey, who, yes, sounds like he was named after a major oil and gas company, weighed in at 7lb 5oz and measured 20 inches long.
Robert Downey Jr. went on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Monday night and announced that he and his wife were having a baby boy, but Downey Jr. tells Hollyscoop that this may not be true?

"The funny thing is, we're having a girl," Downey Jr. told Hollyscoop at the Los Angeles premiere of "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows".

So what is it? Boy or Girl? "[We] just confused everyone," says Downey Jr.’s wife Susan Downey.

While we get to the bottom of this "boy/girl" debacle, Downey Jr. says while his wife is the one carrying the baby, that's doesn't mean he can't have his own "sympathy cravings"- which is that thing when a guy uses his wife's pregnancy as an excuse to eat whatever he wants

Celebs, this is how you make an announcement.

Robert Downey Jr. appeared on the Tonight Show With Jay Leno, where he announced to the crowd: “We’re having a boy!”

Robert and his wife, Susan Levin, are expecting their first child together, and Robert says that he’s terrible about keeping anything baby-related a secret.

The actor told Leno: “I am not permitted to discuss it. I keep dropping the ball everywhere - she [Susan] says, 'Don't tell your cousins', and then I tell them. I can't say a word."

From there, Downey, Jr. made the gender announcement to the crowd, and then he covered his face, pretending like he was really embarrassed or something.
If you have a friend that’s a comic book fan, don’t bother trying to contact them for the next seven hours or so. The first official trailer for The Avengers movie has just been released. Also, if you have a friend that’s a Scarlett Johansson fan, don’t bother calling them, either.

In addition to Scarlett, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner, all star in the flick. No wonder she signed up for this.

Robert Downey, Jr. and his wife of six years, Susan Levin, are about to have their first child together. I think Robert Downey, Jr. should have announced it by showing up on the red carpet and rubbing his stomach.

Susan's aunt, Nancy Miller, confirmed the news to Star: "I think it's wonderful that she's pregnant."

Miller continues: "The baby is due in February. Susan's father, my brother, called me about three weeks ago with the good news. Her parents are over the moon about it."

I'm not 100% fluent in 1950s slang, but I think that means they're happy.

While this is the couple's first child together, Robert, 46, has an 18 year-old son, Indio, from his first marriage.

Unfortunately many celebs let their drug and alcohol addictions take over, but these 5 celebs have managed to battle their addictions, get clean, and are now even more successful because of their sobriety.

Angelina Jolie: Before Angelina was a glamorous humanitarian super mom, she was making out with her brother, carrying Billy Bob’s blood around in vials and completely addicted to a variety of drugs. She once said, “I’ve done coke, heroin, ecstasy, LSD, everything. I gave them up long ago...

Cameron Diaz recently described her ex, Justin Timberlake, as a “bad boy.”

“He's great at making fun of himself,” Diaz said. “But if you're really a true nerd, you can't really make fun of yourself that way, you have to be aware of it. He's a bad boy."

Despite the fact that he likes to strike his badass pose—his chin down, eyes looking mischievously up at camera—Timberlake doesn’t strike me as a bad boy. He certainly has the bark—grabbing Mila Kunis’ breasts, being frank with interviewers, bragging about pot smoking—but he still comes off more Chihuahua than Pit Bull...
Finally a list that Oprah hasn't dominated! Vanity Fair has comprised a list of Hollywood's biggest stars and broken down exactly how much they made in 2010.

There are no executives or agents on the list, and they didn't count earnings from non-film-related projects, "such as Steve Carell’s fees for starring on The Office or Jennifer Aniston’s for appearing in SmartWater ads."

Sadly, the top 10 is dominated by men, but Kristen Stewart comes in at number 13 with $28.5 million ($25 million for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 1 & 2, $2.5 million: On the Road and $1 million: Older film revenue, mostly from Twilight franchise) and Jennifer Aniston was the only other female in the top 20.

Jen made about $24.5 million. Her breakdown includes: $10 million for Just Go with It, $8 million: Wanderlust (fee for starring in upcoming Judd Apatow-produced film), $6 million: Horrible Bosses (fee for starring in upcoming workplace comedy), $500,000: Older film revenue. She also made a ton from SmartWater and Friends reruns, but again, those figures aren't included here.

Check out the top 10 below...

10. Robert Downey Jr., estimated 2010 earnings: $31.5 million

9. Taylor Lautner, estimated 2010 earnings: $33.5 million

8. Todd Phillips estimated 2010 earnings: $34 million

7. Adam Sandler, estimated 2010 earnings: $50 million

6. Tim Burton estimated 2010 earnings: $53 million

5. Leonardo DiCaprio, estimated 2010 earnings: $62 million

4. Christopher Nolan estimated 2010 earnings: $71.5 million

3. Steven Spielberg, estimated 2010 earnings: $80 million

2. Johnny Depp, estimated 2010 earnings: $100 million

1. James Cameron estimated 2010 earnings: $257 million
Leonardo DiCaprio did pretty damn well this year. He was just named the highest-grossing actor of the year by Forbes magazine.

He had two huge movies out this year--Shutter Island and Inception, which were two of the 15 highest-earning movies at the global box office. Inception alone made $825 million!

And if you think that’s a lot, his total at the box office this year was $1.1 billion. According to reports, Leo will bank $50 million off Inception alone.

Coming in second place is newcomer Mia Wasikowska—the breakout star of Alice in Wonderland. That film banked $1.03 billion at the box office. Tied for second is a little more obvious—Johnny Depp, and Robert Downey Jr. in third thanks to Iron Man 2.

Thanks to a few vulgar voicemails that were "accidently" leaked, Mel Gibson has been in PR hell this year. Not only has he been portrayed as an angry monster, he's having a hard time getting work.

If anyone knows what it's like to struggle to find work it's Mel's good pal Robert Downey Jr., who thanks to a drug addiction couldn't secure work--until Mel gave him a chance.

Robert is now has defended his pal Mel over his troubled personal life and career insisting what we hear about him in the media doesn't mean anything.

"It doesn't mean anything," Robert told Hollyscoop EXCLUSIVELY about Mel’s image and reports of him getting fired while promoting his own movie Due Date at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood on Thursday night.

"The great thing about Mel is that you know someone for 25 years, whenever someone asks you a question about him in the media it doesn't mean anything," Robert told Hollyscoop adding, "I just talk to the guy and we have a friendship."

When Robert was down and out and completely uninsurable Mel gave him a chance by casting him in the Singing Detective back in 2003, two years after he kicked his drug habit.

"Mel Gibson cast me in Singing Detective, even though an insurance company wouldn't cover it because it was my first film after my release from behind bars," he told Parade magazine back in 2009.

Mel was recently fired from The Hangover sequel because the cast didn’t want anything to do with him. But his good pals are coming to his rescue and defending him as an actor. Jodie Foster defended Mel at the Women In Hollywood event telling Hollyscoop, “He’s been an amazing friend, pretty much anyone who will ever meet or has met with or worked with him, adores him and he’s had his friends that surrounded him for a very long time.”

Everyone loves a comeback, but maybe Mel needs to lay low for a while longer before he attempts to make his comeback. Fans are forgiving, but not that forgiving. Do you think Mel’s career is done, or will he bounce back like Robert?
