Rob Dyrdek is already a household name after starring in the hit MTV show Rob & Big and now he’s moved on to his first big solo project. Rob has written, produced, and is now starring in the film Street Dreams.
The film’s message is to give the skateboarding community a better name. Rob is sick and tired of skaters getting treated like a nuisance, and has taken it upon himself to change that.
What many don’t realize is that skateboarders are often harassed by police officers to stop, and there have even been instances of beatings. This has been caught on tape as well.
This past February, Dyrdek created the Safe Spot, Skate Spot in Los Angeles as part of his initiative to give skaters a safe and legal haven to exercise their passion. Rob’s film Street Dreams recently won the Audience Award at the Newport Film Festival, and was named the Most Buzworthy Film as well. Produced by E!’s Sal Masekela, Jason Bergh and David Katzenberg, Street Dreams opens in theaters June 12th.
