In honor of summer, and the very near opening of the 2012 Olympic Games, we thought we’d give a shout out to some of this season's hottest athletic bods that belong to non-athletes.
It’s a collection of abs and biceps so enviable that they beg the question: Is buff the new skinny?
Stacy Keibler, 32
The actress has been a dancer since the age of three and a model since the age of six. She has also been an NFL cheerleader for the Baltimore Ravens, a WCW Nitro Girl, a professional wrestler (seriously) and a finalist on “Dancing with the Stars.”
So it’s no real secret how she got that hot body that’s even given a shout out in her IMDB profile as being “a model of peak physical fitness.”
Oh yeah, and jetting around with BF George Clooney to Italy and France has to be quite the workout too!
Jessica Biel, 30
The super stylish soon-to-be-wife of Justin Timberlake may flounder when it comes to her personal fashion choices, but when it comes to physical fitness, it seems she definitely knows what looks hot.
An admitted slacker in the diet department, Biel says she stays ripe by kicking her butt in the gym with a trainer two or three times a week to focus heavily on strength training. She wants to be strong, and says strictly cardio won’t cut it.
Clearly this bride-to-be won’t be facing the dreaded, “what if the dress doesn’t fit?” drama.
Cameron Diaz, 39
Another former cheerleader and model, Cameron is an enthusiastic surfer who is often photographed on the beach -- rocking all sorts of bikinis because she can. But after her recent role as a personal trainer in What to Expect When You’re Expecting, she took her already toned physique up a few more notches.
Her and her longtime trainer focus on strength training with a mixture of plyometrics for a cardio burst with moves like plank pushups, triceps dips, and bicep curls, alternating with sprints on the treadmill.
Next time you want to hate her for her bod, just remember, she earned it, and continues to do so.
A native of Barbados, Rihanna might as well have been born in a bikini, on the beach, in the sun, with a tan.
Proving that she knows what boys (and girls) really like as opposed to the emaciated model standard, RiRi recently expressed concern that she had gotten too skinny while trying to achieve conventional standards of beauty upon superstardom. We hate it when that happens.
For the process of re-building her back end, she expressed interest in both natural (hiking, horseback riding) and man-made (elliptical and incremental treadmill training) means of exercise.
Butt or no butt, Rihanna can rock the beach like she rocks a stadium tour.
Scarlett was a lovely girl turned beautiful woman over the course of the last 18 years that we’ve been enjoying her on screen. But it wasn’t until a couple of years ago that her ripped but curvaceous physique caught the attention of the Iron Man himself, and the world at large, as she kicked butt in full body latex as The Avengers’ Natasha, aka The Black Widow.
How’d she do it? Circuit training workouts, a nearly vegan diet, and, wait for it… combat training that included mixed marital arts and hand to hand combat lessons!
Can we get a “hell yeah!” ladies?
While you’re only really at risk of being pummeled or pile drived by a couple of these ladies, I think we can all agree that each of them physically define that seemingly abstract notion of “killer bodies!”
