Rihanna’s social media activities have been landing a few people in hot water lately, but this time she got herself in some trouble.
While on her Diamonds World Tour, she made a concert stop in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where she visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
Clad in an all-black hijab, she had an impromptu photo shoot at the religious site, which generated some controversy—some of which included Rihanna lying out by a pool of water and captions like “B*tch stole my look” on a photo with the singer watching a group of Muslim women walking by.
Finding it to be in violation of the “moral codes of access to the mosque,” officials asked Rihanna to leave the premises for “taking inappropriate pictures, posing in ways that are improper in the context of a sacred place.”
A statement issued by the center explained:
“Due to the fact that she had taken some pictures that do not conform with the conditions and regulations put in place by the Centre’s management to regulate visits in a way that takes the status and sanctity of the mosque into consideration.”
Rihanna hasn’t responded to the circumstances or charges of insensitivity, but the fact that she left the photos on her Instagram page is probably response enough.
